Undergraduate Medical Students' Perception and Evaluation of Online Anatomy Laboratory Practical Sessions During the COVID-19 Pandemic

2022 | Skripsi | S1 KEDOKTERANLatar Belakang: Pandemi Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) yang melanda di awal tahun 2020 memaksa perguruan tinggi untuk menerapkan berbagai metode pembelajaran online yang berbeda. Di antara semua kegiatan akademik lainnya yang dilakukan oleh sekolah kedokteran, praktikum anatomi adalah salah satu yang paling sulit dilakukan secara online karena penggunaan cadaver. Karena itu, sebagian besar instruktur sebatas menggunakan presentasi PowerPoint. Minimnya studi pada masa pandemi COVID-19 di Indonesia mengenai persepsi dan evaluasi mahasiswa terhadap praktikum anatomi secara online, bersama dengan ketidakpuasan mahasiswa, menunjukkan pentingnya penelitian ini dilakukan. Tujuan: Tujuan utama pelaksanaan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi mahasiswa terhadap praktikum anatomi online yang dilaksanakan di UGM selama masa pandemi COVID-19. Metodologi: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan teknik pengambilan sampel stratified random sampling. Data akan dikumpulkan melalui e-kuesioner semi-kuantitatif. Hasil: Sebanyak 122 mahasiswa berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Data kuantitatif menunjukkan bahwa tanggapan mahasiswa secara umum berkisar dari agak setuju hingga setuju terhadap metode pelaksanaan praktikum anatomi online. Tiga tema utama muncul dari data kualitatif antara lain "Aspek Pembelajaran", "Dampak Pribadi", dan "Aspek Teknologi". Konklusi: Dapat disimpulkan bahwa walaupun mahasiswa UGM sepakat bahwa praktikum anatomi online merupakan alternatif yang cukup memuaskan untuk saat ini, masih banyak mahasiswa yang lebih menyukai blended learning atau bahkan kelas yang sepenuhnya offline.
Background: The Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic that struck at the start of the year 2020 has forced universities to implement various different online learning methods. Among all the other academic activities carried out by medical schools, anatomy laboratory practical sessions are among the most difficult to conduct online due to the typical use of cadavers, as instructors have been limited to mostly using PowerPoint presentations. The lack of studies during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia concerning the students' perception and evaluation towards online anatomy laboratory practical sessions paired with the students' dissatisfaction further necessitates the execution of this study. Aims: The prime objective to conduct this study is to understand student perceptions towards the online anatomy laboratory practical sessions conducted in GMU during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: The study conducted is a descriptive analysis study with stratified random sampling as the sampling technique. The data will be collected through a semi-quantitative e-questionnaire. Results: A total of 122 students participated in the study. The quantitative data shows that the students responses in general range from somewhat agree to agree to the method of conduction of online anatomy laboratory practical sessions. Three main themes emerged from the qualitative data including "Schooling Aspects", "Personal Impacts", and "Technological Aspects". Conclusion: It can be concluded that although the students at GMU agree that online anatomy laboratory practical sessions are an acceptable alternative for the time being, many students still prefer to have blended learning or even fully offline classes.
