HUBUNGAN TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN DAN STATUS SOSIAL EKONOMI REMAJA PADA PEMILIHAN OPERATOR PERAWATAN ORTODONTI CEKAT

Perawatan ortodonti bertujuan untuk mendapatkan kontak oklusal yang baik. Beragam operator kesehatan gigi dan mulut yang dikenal di kalangan masyarakat yaitu dokter gigi spesialis, dokter gigi, perawat gigi, dan tukang gigi atau ahli gigi. Operator yang tidak memiliki kompetensi dalam perawatan ortodonti cekat dapat menimbulkan dampak berbahaya terhadap kesehatan gigi dan mulut pasien. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan tingkat pengetahuan dan status sosial ekonomi remaja terhadap pemilihan operator perawatan ortodonti cekat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analytic observasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Responden penelitian berjumlah 51 orang, terdiri dari siswa perempuan dan laki-laki dengan kriteria usia 15-18 tahun dan sedang dalam perawatan ortodonti cekat. Data penelitian berupa data kuesioner yang berisi tentang data pengetahuan dan status sosial ekonomi. Data kuesioner tingkat pengetahuan dinilai dengan skala Guttman dan data status sosial ekonomi dinilai dengan skala penilaian bertingkat. Data dianalisis dengan uji Spearman Rank Correlation. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara tingkat pengetahuan dan status sosial ekonomi remaja pada pemilihan operator perawatan ortodonti cekat. Interpretasi hasil uji korelasi pengetahuan dan status sosial ekonomi pada pemilihan operator perawatan ortodonti cekat memiliki nilai kekuatan r=0,892 dan r=0,736. Dalam penelitian 17,6% yang memilih perawatan ortodonti cekat dengan ortodontis dan memiliki pengetahuan yang baik dan 82, 4% masih melakukan perawatan ortodonti cekat yang tidak tepat. Sehingga diperlukan melakukan edukasi untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan remaja tentang operator yang memiliki kompetensi perawatan ortodonti cekat. Kesimpulan penelitian ini yaitu semakin tinggi tingkat pengetahuan dan status sosial ekonomi remaja semakin baik dalam pemilihan operator perawatan ortodonti cekat.

Orthodontic treatment aims to obtain good occlusal contact. Various dental and oral health operators are known among the public, namely specialist dentists, dentists, dental nurses, and dental artisans or dental experts. Operators who do not have competence in fixed orthodontic treatment can have a dangerous impact on the patient's dental and oral health. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and socioeconomic status of adolescents on the selection of fixed orthodontic treatment operators. This research is an observational analytic study with a cross sectional approach. The research respondents were 51 people, consisting of female and male students with criteria aged 15-18 years and currently undergoing fixed orthodontic treatment. The research data is in the form of questionnaire data which contains data on knowledge and socioeconomic status. The knowledge level questionnaire data was assessed using the Guttman scale and the socioeconomic status data was assessed using a graded rating scale. Data were analyzed by the Spearman Rank Correlation test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and socioeconomic status of adolescents in the selection of fixed orthodontic treatment operators. The interpretation of the correlation test results of knowledge and socioeconomic status on the selection of fixed orthodontic treatment operators has a power value of r=0.892 and r=0.736. In the study 17.6% chose fixed orthodontic treatment with an orthodontist and had good knowledge and 82.4% still did improper fixed orthodontic treatment. So it is necessary to conduct education to increase adolescent knowledge about operators who have fixed orthodontic treatment competence. The conclusion of this study is that the higher the level of knowledge and socioeconomic status of adolescents, the better the selection of fixed orthodontic treatment operators.
