PERSEPSI DAN OBSESI TERHADAP KETIDAKPUASAN PERAWATAN ORTODONTI PADA REMAJA DENGAN GANGGUAN PSIKOLOGIS BODY DYSMORPHIC DISORDER (BDD)

Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) merupakan gangguan kesehatan mental saat seseorang memiliki preokupasi terhadap penampilan fisik yang dimilikinya, pikiran yang selalu muncul berfokus terhadap kerusakan atau kecacatan dalam penampilan fisik yang berlebihan dan menyebabkan distress, dan penurunan fungsi sosial. Persepsi berlebih terhadap kecacatan gigi dan mulut yang terjadi pada remaja mempengaruhi tingkat obsesi untuk memperbaiki penampilan. Narrative review ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh gangguan psikologis BDD pada remaja dalam mencapai kepuasan diri pada perawatan ortodonti yang dilihat dari faktor persepsi dan obsesi. ClinicalKey, GoogleScholar, dan Pubmed digunakan sebagai database untuk mencari literature berdasarkan kata kunci orthodontic dan body dysmorphic disorder atau body image negative atau psychology atau mental health atau adolescent. Jurnal referensi diseleksi menggunakan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Total referensi yang digunakan sebanyak 24 jurnal. Gangguan BDD dapat mempengaruhi tingkat kepuasan dan keberhasilan terhadap perawatan ortodonti yang dilakukan. Efek dari gangguan BDD yang tidak tertangani dengan baik munculnya tindakan obsesif penderita untuk selalu mencari cara untuk mencapai kepuasan perawatan ortodonti. Ortodontis memiliki peran besar untuk mendeteksi secara awal pasien yang menderita BDD untuk dapat mendapatkan penanganan yang tepat.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is a mental health disorder, person with BDD has preoccupation with physical appearance, the mind that always appears to focus on the damage or disability in excessive physical appearance and causes distress and decreased social function. Excessive perception of dental and mouth defects that occur in adolescents affects the level of obsession with improving appearance. The purpose of this narrative review is to find out the influence of BDD psychological disorders in adolescents in achieving self-satisfaction in orthodontic treatment judging from perceptual and obsession factors. ClinicalKey, GoogleScholar, and Pubmed are used as a databases to search the literature based on the keywords orthodontic and body dysmorphic disorder or body image negative or psychology or mental health or adolescent. Reference journals are selected by using inclusion and exclusion criterias. The number of references that used are 24 journals. BDD disorder can affect the level of satisfaction and success of orthodontic treatments performance. The effects of BDD that are not handled properly will emergence the obsessive actions towards patient that will always looking for better orthodontic treatment satisfaction. Orthodontists have a big role to detect early patients suffering from BDD to be able to get the right treatment.
