The Analysis of Local Government's Role in Sustainable Digital Enterprises : Sub Sector Fashion in Bandung City

This study aims to analyze the role of the Bandung local government in contributing to the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that has already transformed digitally to be sustainable, especially in the sub-sector Apparel, Fashion & Luxury (AF&L). This study applied a qualitative approach involving semi- structured in-depth interviews with the founders of fashion sector enterprises and local government as well as local government organization. This study reveals several unmatching government role and what digital-based MSME�s needs such as financial constraints, the lack of digital capability, the inadequacy of human resources, and cyber security affairs. Un- existent policies in addressing the related problems were found in this research. This study result shows that 74% of digital-based fashion MSME in Bandung admitted have no experience with government roles in their digital business process and operations. However, this research also exposed the local government's side, stating they have several programs and roles to give significant contributions to the digital-based MSME. It needs to strengthen the collaboration from government and other institutions to increase awareness and collect the digital-based MSMEs needs.
