Javan gibbon (Hylobates moloch) is one of Java Island's endemic species that considered as the most endangered primate species in Indonesia. Illegal hunting pressure and loss habitat become the most serious threat. The decrease of forest area as the nature habitat caused the more pressure to the population in present. The occurrences ofthe gibbon's population and home range in Slamet mountain especially Curug Cipendok area, Central Java, have been known yet. So, that find difficulties in management its geniuses habitat. The aimed ofthis study were to estimated the density and home range of javan gibbon in Curug Cipendok area. The study used range mapping and concentration count method that retied on groups distribution·in the area. Javan gibbon's home range was estimated by following the daily movement of each groups. Andthen, mapping the home range by using Arc View GIS 3.2 program. Based on the result ofthis study, the population ofjavan gibbon in Curug Cipendok area was estimated 10,4 ± 0,68 individual for range mapping and 11 individual in 4 groups for concentration count. The average home range ofthis species was estimated 11,055 Ha in the area of236,96 Ha. The density bl using range mapging was 4,4 ± 0,03 individual km-2 and 16,1 individual km- or 5,9 groups km" for concentration count. Thejavan gibbon habitat in Curug Cipendok area consisted of2 type: primary and secondary forest. The both habitat were supportingthe life ofthis species because from study known almost 40% ofthese habitat component were the food tree. This tree species are: Ficus variegata, Horsfielda irya, Sterculia sp., Ficus spec, Artocarpus elastica, and Iitsea sp.
