Histeri anti komunis menyebar seluruh Amerika pada tdiun 1940-ax da.1 1950-mi. Amerika Serikat meiigambil tindakan yang sangat keras untuk menghapuskan komunime dari iunerika. Meskipun usaha-usaha untuk menahan aktivkas kaum komunis berhasil; telah terdapat pro dan kontra tentang perang terhadap kaum kornunis yang berlebihan tersebut. Sesuai dengan hal itu, tujuan utama dari penelitian ini ialah xnenguraikan bagaimana pandangan orang-orang Amerika terhadap komunisme dan bagaimana mereka mengontrol alktivitas kaum komunis di Amerika pada peridode itu. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan penelitian pustaka. Data yang telah dikumpulkan dipilih secara cermat dan dianalisis dengan menggunalkan konsep dari pendekatan interdisiplin. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan kompleksitas dmi gerakan antikomunis di Amerika Serikat pada ta'nun 1940-an dan 1950-an. Orang-orang Amerika melihat komunisme sebagai ancarnan bagi kapitalisme, ideologi mereka. Namun demikian, ini bukanlah satu-satunya penyebab terjadinya histeri anti komunisme di Amerika Serikat, konflik antar kelompok yang berkepentingan dan Perang Dingin antara Arnerika dan Soviet telah membuat histeria ini semakin memanas. Penelitian ini juga mengungkap f&ta bhwa para aktivis gerakan anti komunis menggunakan tekanan politik dan sanksi ekonomi untuk menghapuskan komunisme di Arnerika Serikat pada waktu itu. Akhirnya, hasil ini menunjukkan gerakan anti komunis memiliki dampak yang serius pada kehidupan orang- orang Amerika secara politik, ekonomi, dan budaya.

The anti-Communist hysteria spread throughout the United States of America in the 1940s and 1950s. The United States took vigorous actions to eliminate communism from America. Despite the success of this effort to curb the Communists' activities, there have been pros and cons about the excessive anti-Communist crusade during the 1940s and 1950s. Accordingly, the objectives of this research are to describe how the Americans perceived communism: how they controlled the Communists activities in the United States in that period, and to explore the impacts of this anti-Communist movement on the Americans' life. In this study the researcher uses the library research. The collected data are carefully selected and analyzed by using the concept of interdisciplinary approach. The result of this study shows the complexity of the anti- Communist movement in the United States in the 1940s and 1950s. The American people perceived communism threatening capitalism, their established ideology. However, it was not the only cause of the anticommunism in the U.S.A. Conflicts of interest groups in the American cociety and the Cold War between the United States and Soviet Union in the post World War Ii had heated the anti-Communist movement in America. It aslo reveals the fact that the anti-Communist activists used political repression and economic sanctions to eliminate domestic commuism in the United States of America in the 1940s and 1950s. Finally, it shows that this anti-Communist movement had serious impacts on the Americans? life politically, economically, and culturally
