Lower plant is a forest ecosystelTI cOlnponent should be considered in forest management. Beside playing role in forest ecosysteln, lower plant also useful for fauna live and human live. The opinion that forest management should be based on ecosystem concept is increasingly strong and should be followed up by deeper understanding on all forest components and their contribution to ecosystem. This study aimed to identify structure and cOlnposition, diversity and type varieties use of lower plant types ofherb and bush strata by Java Deer (Cervus tirnorensis) in some habitat types in Block 5wanagalna I, consisting of pine stand, Inahogany pine, cajup'ut stand, acacia stand and agricllitural area. Result oftlus study is expected to be infonnation on structure, cOlnposition and type oflower plant and information on food type in some type ofJava deer habitats. 1\1ethod used in this study in defining Java deer habitat is by finding track sign made such as path, leg track, feces and information from people around. Structure and composition of lower plant is studied using nested sampling method, and for food type of vegetation analysis using nested sampling method, vegetation type in each block is recorded. Result of the study showed that herb types dominating with each important value are lamuran (polytrias anlaura Hack) (231.205%), kerinyu (Epipatorium odoratuJn HBK)(124.389% ), and kerinyu (Epipatorlum odoratum HBK) (227.312%). On bush strata, they are saradan (Flacourtia indica Merr)(118.692), cendana (Santalum album Linn)(67.398%), mahagony (Sw~eteniamacrophylla king) (66.389%) and kesambi (Schiechera oleosa Merr) (49.003%). Types with high diversity in herb strata were on acacia stand with diversity of 1.020 and type variety of17; in bush strata, they are in pine stand with diversity of1.314 and type variety of 19. The highest food type is on agricultural type habitat with importance value index of210.724%, and the lowest one is on acacia stand habitat with 111.551 importance value index.
