PENGARUH PEMBERIAN CREEP FEED TERHADAP PERTAMBAHAN UKURAN TUBUH DAN BOBOT BADAN PEDET SAPI PERANAKAN ONGOLE

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian creep feed terhadap pertambahan ukuran tubuh dan bobot badan pedet yang dipelihara bersama induk pada kandang koloni. Penelitian menggunakan 6 ekor pedet sapi PO berumur 4 bulan. Creep feed disediakan di dalam tempat pakan yang berukuran dengan ukuran 2,8x0,8x0,2 m3 dan diberi pembatas. Data diambil selama 6 bulan yang terdiri atas 3 bulan pertama untuk pedet tanpa creep feed dan 3 bulan kedua pedet dengan creep feed. Data ukuran tubuh dan bobot badan harian dianalisis dengan analisis variansi pola searah. Khusus data pertambahan ukuran tubuh dan bobot badan harian dianalisis dengan analisis kovariansi dengan ukuran tubuh dan bobot badan awal sebagai kovariat. Pertambahan panjang badan, lingkar dada, tinggi gumba, tinggi pinggul, lebar dada, lebar pinggul, dalam dada, dan bobot badan harian pedet dengan dan tanpa creep feed berturut-turut masing-masing adalah 16,40 plus-minus 2,58 dan 12,89 plus-minus 3,76 cm/bulan, 15,78 plus-minus 6,64 dan 12,94 plus-minus 10,84 cm/bulan, 13,54 plus-minus 3,06 dan 11,03 plus-minus 6,70 cm/bulan, 11,58 plus-minus 3,24 dan 12,95 plus-minus 4,41 cm/bulan, 7,08 plus-minus 2,87 dan 8,77 plus-minus 3,32 cm/bulan, 5,47 plus-minus 2,45 dan 4,36 plus-minus 2,63 cm/bulan, 5,90 plus-minus 2,63 dan 7,96 plus-minus 3,82 cm/bulan, dan 1,82 plus-minus 0,20 dan 1,65 plus-minus 0,44 kg/hari. Pertambahan ukuran tubuh dan bobot badan harian antara kedua kelompok tersebut berbeda tidak nyata. Disimpulkan bahwa pemberian creep feed di dalam creep feeder area tidak berpengaruh terhadap pertambahan ukuran tubuh dan bobot badan harian pedet prasapih sapi PO berumur 4 sampai 7 bulan.

The aim of this study was to observe the effect of creep feeding on calf growth performance which were reared with their dams at a colony pen. 6 heads of four months old PO calves were used in this study. The creep feeder area equipped with a feed bunk (2.8x0.8x0.2 m3). Data was collected for sixth months which consist of the first three months for calves without creep feed and the second three months for calves given with creep feed. The data body size and weight daily gain were analyzed by one way analysis of variance. The data increase of body size and weight daily gain were analyzed by covariance analysis with initial body size and weight as covariates. The body length, heart girth, wither height, hip height, heart width, hip width, chest depth, and body weight gain of calves with and without creep feeding were 16,40 plus-minus 2,58 and 12,89 plus-minus 3,76 cm/month, 15,78 plus-minus 6,64 and 12,94 plus-minus 10,84 cm/month, 13,54 plus-minus 3,06 and 11,03 plus-minus 6,70 cm/month, 11,58 plus-minus 3,24 and 12,95 plus-minus 4,41 cm/month, 7,08 plus-minus 2,87 and 8,77 plus-minus 3,32 cm/month, 5,47 plus-minus 2,45 and 4,36 plus-minus 2,63 cm/month, 5,90 plus-minus 2,63 and 7,96 plus-minus 3,82 cm/month, and 1,82 plus-minus 0,20 and 1,65 plus-minus 0,44 kg/day, respectively. There was no significant difference body size and weight gain between them. It can be concluded that creep feeding does not affect the body size and weight gain of preweaning Ongole Grade calves at 4 to 7 months of age.
