EUROSCEPTICISM: UNITED KINGDOM INDEPENDENCE PARTY SEBAGAI NORM ENTREPRENEUR DALAM BRITISH EXIT

Tesis ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran United Kingdom Independence Party sebagai Norm entrepreneur dengan menggunakan doktrin Euroscepticism yang kemudian membuatnya menjadi aktor penting dibalik terjadinya British Exit atau Brexit dimana Inggris secara resmi mendeklarasikan keluar dari keanggotaan Uni Eropa berdasarkan hasil pemilu referendum yang dilaksanakan pada tahun 2016. Melalui analisis terhadap berbagai dokumen, buku, jurnal, dan sumber-sumber lain penulis berargumen bahwa United Kingdom Independence Party sebagai aktor norm entrepreneur berusaha mempersuasi atau mempengaruhi publik Inggris agar menjadi lebih skeptis terhadap norma integrasi dalam ruang Uni Eropa yang dimana eksistensinya berdampak terhadap kedaulatan Inggris sebagai suatu entitas berdaulat. Sebagai aktor norm entrepreneur, United Kingdom Independence Party merupakan partai politik Inggris yang memiliki pandangan skeptis terhadap Uni Eropa dalam menjalankan Integrasi kawasan Eropa. Pandangan skeptis tersebut didasari oleh Euroscepticism dengan kemudian fenomena Brexit sebagai output atau produknya. Pesan-pesan yang disampaikan oleh United Kingdom Independence Party memiliki makna yang dianggap paling mewakili kondisi sosial politik Inggris sehingga mampu menarik perhatian sejumlah dukungan elektoral dari publik. Adanya ancaman efek domino dari Brexit menjadi suatu perbincangan tersendiri karena pengaruh United Kingdom Independence Party yang sudah pada tahapan lintas batas negara. Tesis ini memberi beberapa bentuk filling the gap dari penelitian mengenai Euroscepticism, terutama dalam konteks melihat fenomena Brexit dan Integrasi Eropa secara umum.

This Thesis aims to analyze the role of United Kingdom Independence Party as a Norm Entrepreneur by using Euroscepticism of which it made them became an important actor behind British Exit or Brexit where Britain officially declared its exit from the European Union based on the results of the referendum election held in 2016. Through deep analysis on various documents, books, journals, and other sources the author argues that the United Kingdom Independence Party as a Norm entrepreneur tries to influence the British public to become more skeptical towards the integration norms within the European Union whose existence has impacts on the United Kingdom as a sovereign entity. As a Norm entrepreneur, the United Kingdom Independence Party is a British political party that has a very skeptical view towards the European Union in carrying out the European regional integration. This skeptical view is based on Euroscepticism and then Brexit as it output or end product. The messages conveyed by the United Kingdom Independence Party have meanings that are considered to be the one that represents the British socio-political conditions the most, thus it attracts the attentions of the public to give its electoral support. The threat of a domino effect from Brexit is a particular concern within the spectrum because of the influence from the United Kingdom Independence Party itself that has also already exists overseas. Therefore this Thesis provides several forms of results in order to fill the research gap within the topics around Euroscepticism, especially in the context of observing at the Brexit phenomenon and the European Integration in general.
