SUPLEMENTASI ALFALFA (Medicago sativa L.) PADA PAKAN KOMERSIAL TERHADAP PENAMPILAN PRODUKSI DAN KUALITAS KARKAS ITIK HIBRIDA

Penelitian ini dilakukan secara in vivo dengan menggunakan 90 ekor itik hibrida, dibagi dalam 3 perlakuan dan setiap perlakuan terdiri dari 6 ulangan, setiap ulangan terdiri dari 5 ekor itik. Perlakuan yang diberikan sebanyak 3 yaitu, suplementasi alfalfa segar sebanyak 0%, 5% dan 10%. Pakan dan air minum diberikan secara ad libitum. Variabel yang diamati meliputi penampilan produksi, kualitas karkas, kualitas fisik dan kimia daging itik hibrida. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis variansi pola searah berdasarkan Rancangan Acak Lengkap. Data yang berbeda nyata di uji lanjut dengan Duncan's new Multiple Range Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa suplementasi alfalfa 5% meningkatkan konsumsi pakan, pertambahan bobot badan, berat karkas, presentase karkas. Suplementasi alfalfa 5% dan 10% mempengaruhi kadar air, protein kasar, nilai pH, daya ikat air dan susut masak, namun tidak berpengaruh terhadap kadar lemak dan keempukan daging itik hibrida. Penelitian ini dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa suplementasi alfalfa 5% belum bisa menurunkan kadar lemak daging, namun suplementasi alfalfa 5% dapat meningkatkan penampilan produksi itik hibrida.
The aimed of the study was to determine the effect of alfalfa supplementation levels (Medicago sativa L.) in commercial feed on hybrid ducks. This research was done by in vivo using 90 hybrid ducks, with 3 treatments and 6 replications with each replication consisted of 5 ducks. Three treatments were set with fresh alfalfa supplementation of 0%, 5% and 10%. Feed and drinking water were offered ad libitum. The variables observed included performance, carcass quality, physical and chemical quality of hybrid duck's meat. The data obtained were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance based on Completely Randomized Design. Data with significant differences were futher tested with Duncan's new Multiple Range Test. The results showed that 5% alfalfa supplementation increased feed consumption, body weight gain, carcass weight, carcass percentage. Alfalfa supplementation 5% and 10% affected the water content, crude protein, pH value, water holding capacity and cooking loss, but did not affect the fat content and tenderness of hybrid duck meat. This research can be concluded that 5% alfalfa supplementation has not been able to reduce the fat content of meat, but 5% alfalfa supplementation can increase the production performance of hybrid ducks.
