DAMPAK PANDEMI COVID-19 TERHADAP TIMBULAN LIMBAH MEDIS (STUDI KASUS: BEBERAPA TEMPAT RUJUKAN KARANTINA COVID-19 DI KOTA TERNATE)

Kota Ternate merupakan satu dari sepuluh Kabupaten/Kota di Maluku Utara yang mempunyai jumlah penduduk terbanyak. Pandemi Covid-19 di Kota Ternate pertama kali ditemukan kasusnya pada bulan Maret 2020. Dalam menangani pandemi Covid-19 di Kota Ternate digunakan 3 lokasi sebagai tempat karantina Covid-19 Kota Ternate meliputi RSU Chasan Boesoeri, Hotel Sahid, dan Hotel Vellya. Adanya pandemi Covid-19 mengakibatkan peningkatan jumlah timbulan limbah medis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji jenis-jenis limbah medis dan mengidentifikasi tingkat volume limbah medis saat pandemi Covid-19 serta merumuskan rekomendasi dalam penanganan limbah medis. Metode penelitian ini dilakukan secara kualitatif melalui wawancara dengan informan dan pengumpulan data sekunder. Kajian jenis-jenis limbah medis ditentukan menggunakan hasil wawancara dengan informan terkait, tingkat volume limbah medis dianalisis deskriptif berdasarkan hasil kalkulasi kuisoner penelitian, dan rekomendasi penanganan limbah medis dibuat sesuai dengan hasil penelitian dengan dukungan data dari telaah pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis-jenis limbah medis saat pandemi Covid-19 terdiri dari limbah masker, sarung tangan, gaun, penutup kepala, penutup kaki bekas petugas. Jumlah volume limbah medis yang dihasilkan yaitu RSU Chasan Boesoeri 50,05 m3 limbah medis Covid-19, Hotel Sahid 12,82 m3 limbah medis, Hotel Vellya 2,5 m3 limbah medis. Rekomendasi terkait penanganan limbah medis yang dapat dilakukan yaitu melakukan pengoptimalisasi terkait jasa pengelola limbah B3 berizin.

Ternate City is one of ten regencies / cities in North Maluku which has the largest population. The case of the Covid-19 pandemic in Ternate City was first discovered in March 2020. In dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic in Ternate City, 3 locations were used as quarantine places for Covid-19 in Ternate City including Chasan Boesoeri Hospital, Hotel Sahid, and Hotel Vellya. The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in an increase in the amount of medical waste generation. The purpose of this study is to study the types of medical waste and identify the volume level of medical waste during the Covid-19 pandemic and formulate recommendations for handling medical waste. This research method is carried out qualitatively through interviews with informants and secondary data collection. The study of the types of medical waste was determined using the results of interviews with relevant informants, the volume level of medical waste was analyzed descriptively based on the results of the research questionnaire calculation, and recommendations for handling medical waste were made according to the results of the study with the support of data from literature review. The results showed that the types of medical waste during the Covid-19 pandemic consisted of waste masks, gloves, dresses, headgear, and foot covers from former officers. The total volume of medical waste produced is RSU Chasan Boesoeri 50,05 m3 of Covid-19 medical waste, Hotel Sahid 12,82 m3 of medical waste, Hotel Vellya 2,5 m3 of medical waste. Recommendations related to the handling of medical waste that can be done are optimizing services related to licensed B3 waste management services.
