ANALISIS PENGARUH PERTUMBUHAN PENDUDUK TERHADAP PRODUKSI PANGAN DAN PENGUJIAN HIPOTESIS MALTHUSIAN THEORY DI INDONESIA

Ketahanan pangan merupakan salah satu tujuan dari Sustainable Development Goal yang diresmikan oleh United Nations pada tahun 2015. Pembangunan yang baik meliputi dengan ketahanan pangan yang baik. Ketersediaan bahan pangan yang cukup, bisa memengaruhi kondisi suatu negara, termasuk stabilitas ekonomi dan perkembanganya. Studi ini menguji validitas teori Malthus dan mengestimasi jumlah pertumbuhan penduduk terhadap ketahanan pangan yang diproksi dengan food production index di Indonesia dengan menggunakan data time series dari tahun 1976 sampai 2015. Estimasi model ekonometrika dengan spesifikasi model Vector Error Correction Model menunjukkan adanya pengaruh negatif pertumbuhan penduduk terhadap FPI dan menunjukkan berlakunya hipotesis teori Malthus dalam jangka pendek di Indonesia.

Food security is one of the goals of the Sustainable Development Goal which was inaugurated by the United Nations in 2015. Good economic development includes good food security. The availability of adequate foodstuffs can affect the condition of a country, including economic stability and development. This study examines the validity of the Malthusian Theory and estimates the total population growth on food security as proxied by the Food production index in Indonesia using time series data from 1976 to 2015. By estimating econometric model with the specification of the Vector Error Correction Model shows a negative effect of population growth on FPI and shows the validity of the Malthusian Theory hypothesis in the short term in Indonesia.
