Pusat Promosi Hutan Kemasyarakatan RPH Kepek dengan Pendekatan Ekoturisme

Hutan milik KPH Yogyakarta berada berdampingan dengan masyarakat yang notabene mata pencahariannya adalah di hutan. Hutan milik negara khususnya hutan produksi menghasilkan hasil hutan yang langsung disetor ke pihak perusahaan terdaftar. Dengan itu masyarakat tidak merasakan kesejahteraan lebih dari upah buruh petani hutan. Masyarakat yang hidupnya lekat dengan hutan pun tidak memiliki kemampuan untuk mengolah hasil hutan karena hasil hutan bukan hak dari perseorangan. Pada kasus RPH Kepek masyarakat bekerja sama dengan pihan RPH untuk mengembangkan wilayahnya dengan mengupayakan potensi alam selain tanaman pokok yakni jati dan kayu putih. Diberikan kewenangan kepada masyarakat lahan Hutan Kemasyarakatan seluas 14,6 Ha yang sudah ditanami jati dan kayu putih untuk dikembangkan oleh masyarakat dan hasilnya dapat dituai oleh perorangan. Pusat Promosi Hutan Kemasyarakatan RPH Kepek mewadahi pembinaan untuk pemberdayaan masyarakat sekaligus menjadi wadah promosi kepada masyarakat luas untuk mengenal hutan.

The forest belongs to the KPH Yogyakarta is adjacent to the community whose livelihood is in the forest. State-owned forests, especially production forests, produce forest products which are directly paid to the registered company. With that the community does not feel the welfare more than the forest farmer labor wages. People whose lives are closely related to forests do not have the ability to process forest products because forest products are not the right of individuals. In the case of the RPH Kepek, the community collaborated with the RPH options to develop their area by seeking natural potential other than staple plants, namely teak and eucalyptus. Authorities are given to communities of Community Forest land covering an area of 14.6 Ha which has been planted with teak and eucalyptus to be developed by the community and the results can be harvested by individuals. The Center for Community Forest Promotion at RPH Kepek provides guidance for community empowerment as well as a promotion forum for the wider community to get to know the forest.
