Konstruksi Ruang Tubuh Poskolonial Dalam Novel Saman Karya Ayu Utami

Peran Ayu Utami sebagai sastrawan di Indonesia memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan dalam perkembangan tematis kesusastraan yang berhubungan eksplisitisme mengenai ruang tubuh. Oleh karena itu, Novel Saman layak dikaji untuk memahami tubuh yang diciptakan melalui tokoh-tokoh dan lingkungannya. Penelitian tersebut menggunakan teori politik keruangan yang ditulis oleh Sara Upstone. Teori politik keruangan Sara Upstone digunakan untuk menjawab pertanyaan penelitian yakni, 1). Bagaimana kontruksi ruang tubuh dalam novel Saman; 2.) Bagaimana kontruksi ruang tubuh orde baru dan gender dalam novel Saman. Metode analisis yang digunakan penelitian adalah analisis dilakukan melalui relasi antar satuan kata, teks, frasa, paragraf, dan wacana. Data dianalisis melalui hubungan antardata dengan kelompok data yang terhimpun dalam variabel bebas dan terikat. Hubungan data diungkap melalui langkah-langkah sebagai berikut. Pertama, mencari konstruksi ruang tubuh pada tokoh-tokoh dalam novel Saman, kedua menentukan hubungan ruang tubuh dengan aspek yang menentukan hadirnya ruang tersebut. Setelah dianalisis, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa kontruksi ruang tubuh dalam novel Saman adalah tubuh yang alamiah, irasional, supranatural, dan bebas. Meski demikian tidak sepenuhnya tubuh menjadi ruang yang bebas dan alamiah karena terkendala oleh aspek lingkungan yang membentuknya. Tubuh yang alamiah dan bebas hanya sebatas ide dan gagasan karena pada akhirnya sistem kebudayaan, sosial, dan negara yang membentuk makna ruang tubuh

Ayu Utami's role as a writer in Indonesia has a significant influence on the thematic development of literature related to explicitism regarding body space. Therefore, Saman as a novel by Ayu Utami deserves to be studied to understand the body created through the characters and their environment. This research uses the theory of spatial politics written by Sara Upstone. This research uses the theory of spatial politics written by Sara Upstone. Sara Upstone's theory of spatial politics is used to answer the questions of this research, including, 1) How are the construction of body space in the Saman novel; 2) How are the construction of body space related within New Order and gender in the Saman novel. The method of analysis was done through the relationship between units of words, texts, phrases, paragraphs, and discourses. The data were analyzed through the relationship between data with data groups collected in independent and dependent variables. The data relationship was revealed through the following steps. First, looking for the construction of body space in the characters in the Saman novel, second, determining the relationship of body space with the aspects that determine the presence of that space. After being analyzed, this study found that the construction of body space in the novel is a body shape of the chora that represented by the construction of a body that are natural, irrational, supernatural, and free. However, the body is not entirely a free and natural space, because it is constrained by the environmental aspects that shape it. A natural and free body is only limited to ideas, because in the end it is the cultural, social, and state systems that shape the meaning of body space
