WORD FORMATION PROCESSES OF ENGLISH AMERICAN SLANG WORDS FOUND IN DRAKE'S THANK ME LATER ALBUM

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi proses pembentukan kata-kataslang dalam bahasa inggris amerika pada album drake Thank Me Later. Penelitian ini bertujuan untukmenemukan distrubusi frekuensi bahasa gaul yang digunakan berdasarkan tipe pembentukan kata di setiap lagu serta mengidentifikasi dan mengklasifikasi kata-kata slang menurut proses pembentukan kata yang berada di dalam lirik lagu Drake.Ada lima belas proses pembentukan kata berdasarkan teori Mattielo, yaitu compounding, prefixation, suffixation, final combining, infixation, conversion, back-formation, reduplicatives, acronym and initialism, blending, clipping, elliptic rhyming slang, reversed form, variation, and word manufactured and fanciful formations. Terdapat 27kata-kata slang dalam Bahasa Inggris Amerika yang diambil dari tujuh lirik lagu dalam album tersebut berdasarkan teori Mattielo. Hasil penelitian tersebut menunjukkan bahwa lagu yang berjudul Fancy memiliki frekuensi penggunaan kata slang yang paling banyak berdasarkan tipe pembentukan kata.Selain itu, penulis menemukan sembilan tipe proses pembentukan kata di dalam lirik lagu Drake dan sebagai hasilnya 8 kata slang dibentuk melalui proses compounding, 2 kata slang dibentuk melalui proses suffixation, 4 kata slang dibentuk melalui proses clipping, 5 kata slang dibentuk melalui proses acronym and initialism, 1 kata slang dibentuk melalui proses back-formation, 1 kata slang dibentuk melalui proses blending, 1 kata slang dibentuk melalui proses conversion, 1 kata slang dibentuk melalui prosesvariation,dan 4 kata slang dibentuk melalui prosesword manufactured and fanciful form.Penulis tidak menemukan kata-kata slang yang dibentuk melalui proses prefixation, final combining, infixation, reduplicatives, elliptic rhyme slang, reversed form.Proses compounding adalah proses pembentukan kata yang paling sering muncul pada tujuh lirik lagu dari album Drake Thank Me Later.

This research attempts to identify the American English slang words found in the seven song lyrics of Drake's Thank Me Later album. This research aims to discover the frequency distribution of the slang word used based on the word formation in each song and identify and classify the types of word formation processes are used in Drake's song lyrics. There are 15 word formation processes based on Mattiello's theory. They are are compounding, prefixation, suffixation, final combining, infixation, conversion, back-formation, reduplicatives, acronym and initialism, blending, clipping, elliptic rhyming slang, reversed form, variation, and word manufactured and fanciful formations. There were 27 American English slang words taken from seven song lyrics of the album based on Mattiello's theory. The results of the research show that song Fancy has the highest frequency of using slang word based on the type of word formation. After that, the writer found nine types of word formation processes in Drake's song lyrics and as the result 8 slang words were created through compounding process, 2 slang words were created through suffixation process, 4 slang words were created through clipping process, 5 slang words were created through acronyms and initialism process, 1slang word was created through back-formation process, 1 slang word was created through blending, 1 slang word was created through conversion process, 1 slang word was created through variation process, and the last, 4 slang words through word manufactured and fanciful form. The writer did not find slang words created through prefixation, final combining, infixation, reduplicatives, elliptic rhyme slang, reversed form. compounding is the word formation that appears most frequently in the seven lyrics of Drakes song.
