Penelitian mengenai fenomena alkoholisme memang menjadi salah satu topik menarik untuk dibahas, alkoholisme sebagai penyebab masalah sudah ada sejak lama yang kemudian dijadikan sebagai pembelajaran untuk masyarakat. Fenomena alkoholisme terjadi di seluruh dunia. Fokus utama pada penelitian ini mengenai alkoholisme pada mahasiswa di Yogyakarta, mengingat Yogyakarta merupakan kota pelajar, namun dalam penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan pendekatan terhadap penyebab dan dampak konsumsi alkohol oleh mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penyebab dan dampak alkoholisme yang terjadi di kalangan mahasiswa yang sering mengkonsumsi miras dan penelitian ini juga mengetahui seberapa penting masalah sosial yang diakibatkan oleh perilaku mengkonsumsi alkohol di Warung Kopi Giras, Desa Caturtunggal, Kecamatan Depok, Kabupaten Sleman, DIY. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori dari Johny Lumowa (2016), dimana motivasi seorang alkoholisme dalam melakukan sesuatu yang melanggar nilai-nilai umum. Faktor-faktor tersebut meliputi faktor kejiwaan, faktor kepribadian, faktor ekstern, dan faktor keluarga. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa, orangtua mahasiswa, pemilik Warung Kopi Giras, serta masyarakat sekitar. Hasil dari penelitian ini pertama, penyebab perilaku mengkonsumsi alkohol pada mahasiswa dikarenakan disorganisasi sosial, retreatisme (alkohol sebagai pelarian), frustasi. Kedua dampak dari konsumsi alkohol pada mahasiswa menimbulkan masalah sosial dan perilaku menyimpang berupa tawuran pelajar, meningkatnya hasrat seksual terhadap lawan jenis, dan kerugian dari konsumsi alkohol yang mengantarkan kepada berhubungan seks, narkoba, bahkan hingga menyebabkan kecelakaan yang dapat merugikan orang lain, selain itu dampak buruk bagi kesehatan terutama ginjal.Temuan selanjutnya terdapat gangguan yang dirasakan oleh warga sekitar yang ditimbulkan dari kegiatan mengkonsumsi alkohol di Warung Kopi Giras. Temuan terakhir dampak lain yang mempengaruhi mahasiswa menjadi alkoholisme, karena pola asuh orangtua yang permisif dan pola asuh otoriter.

Research on the phenomenon of alcoholism has indeed become an interesting topic to discuss, alcoholism as a cause of problems has existed for a long time which is then used as a lesson for the community. The phenomenon of alcoholism occurs all over the world. The main focus of this study is on student alcoholism in Yogyakarta, considering that Yogyakarta is a student city, but in this study, the researchers used an approach to the causes and effects of alcohol consumption by students. This study aims to determine the causes and effects of alcoholism that occurs among students who often consume alcohol and this study also finds out how important the social problems caused by alcohol consumption behaviour are at the Giras Coffee Shop, Caturtunggal Village, Depok District, Sleman Regency, DIY. This study uses the theory of Johnny Lumowa (2016), where the motivation of an alcoholic in doing something that violates general values. These factors include psychological factors, personality factors, external factors, and family factors. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method. Informants in this study were students, parents of students, owners of Giras Coffee Shop, and the surrounding community. The results of this study are first, the causes of alcohol consumption behaviour in students due to social disorganization, retreatism (alcohol as an escape), frustration. Second, the impact of alcohol consumption on students causes social problems and deviant behaviour in the form of student brawls increased sexual desire for the opposite sex, and losses from alcohol consumption which lead to having sex, drugs, and even causing accidents that can harm others. bad for health, especially the kidneys. The next finding is that there are disturbances felt by residents caused by consuming alcohol at the Giras Coffee Shop. The last finding is another impact that influences students to become alcoholics, due to permissive parenting and authoritarian parenting.
