Trinil merupakan salah satu situs purba kala yang terkenal di dunia. Trinil merupakan situs purba kala yang berada di Kabupaten Ngawi Provinsi Jawa Timur. Salah satu formasi batuan pembawa fosil adalah Formasi Kabuh. Selain ditemukan bekas manusia purba atau fosil, pada Formasi Kabuh ini banyak menunjukkan struktur sedimen. Struktur sedimen yang terdapat dan dijumpai pada Formasi Kabuh ini contohnya adalah berupa cross-bed. Struktur Sedimen ini termasuk dalam struktur sedimen yang terbentuk bersamaan dengan pengendapan atau syn-sedimentation. Penelitian Dinamika arah arus purba di daerah situs purbakala trinil, menggunakan hasil pengukuran arah jurus dan kemiringan dari bidang foreset pada struktur sedimen cross-bed yang terdapat disetiap stasiun titik amat. Berdasarkan hasil pengukuran arah jurus dan kemiringan cross-bedding di enam stasiun titik amat pada lokasi penelitian, disimpulkan bahwa arah arus purba pada daerah penelitian mengarah ke barat daya dengan tinggian di sebelah timur laut. Arah arus purba pada lokasi penelitian berpola Unimodal (Tucker, 2003).

Trinil is one of the most famous ancient sites in the world. Trinil is an ancient site located in Ngawi Regency, East Java Province. One of the rock formations carrying fossils is the Kabuh Formation. In addition to finding the remains of ancient humans or fossils, the Kabuh Formation shows a lot of sedimentary structures. The sedimentary structure found in the Kabuh Formation is an example of a cross-bed. This sedimentary structure is included in the sedimentary structure that is formed simultaneously with deposition or syn-sedimentation. The study of the dynamics of the ancient current direction in the Trinil archaeological site, using the results of the measurement of the direction of the strike and the slope of the foreset plane on the cross-bed sediment structure found at each point station. Based on the results of measurements of the direction of the stroke and the slope of the cross-bedding at six point stations at the study site, it was concluded that the direction of the ancient current in the study area was to the southwest with an elevation to the northeast. The direction of primeval currents at the research site has a Unimodal pattern (Tucker, 2003).
