Determinants of Natural Gas Prices in Indonesia

Harga Gas Bumi merupakan permasalahan penting karena menyangkut kepentingan ekonomi yang signifikan bagi berbagai pemangku kepentingan. Bagi sektor industri, harga Gas Bumi penting dalam meningkatkan daya saing. Sedangkan bagi investor harga Gas Bumi penting sebagai pertimbangan dalam menanamkan modal atau investasi. Oleh karena itu, penting bagi pembuat keputusan untuk memahami faktor penentu harga Gas Bumi untuk mengakomodasi berbagai pemangku kepentingan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor -faktor yang menentukan harga Gas Bumi baik harga ekspor maupun harga domestik dengan menggunakan pendekatan Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa harga minyak mentah Indonesia berperan penting dalam menentukan harga gas bumi. Harga minyak mentah Indonesia mempengaruhi harga ekspor dalam jangka panjang dan mempengaruhi harga domestik dalam jangka pendek. Harga batubara hanya mempengaruhi harga ekspor dalam jangka pendek dan menghilang sama sekali dalam jangka panjang. Selain itu, faktor fundamental juga berperan dalam menentukan harga gas bumi. Baik Harga Ekspor maupun Harga Domestik dipengaruhi oleh Supply dan Demand di dalam jangka panjang. Sedangkan di dalam jangka pendek, hanya Demand yang menjadi penentu harga gas bumi.

The price of Natural Gas is a prominent issue because it involves significant economic interests for various stakeholders. For the industrial sector, the natural gas price is necessary for increasing competitiveness. Meanwhile, for investors, the natural gas price is important as a consideration in investing. Therefore, decision-makers need to understand the determinants of Natural Gas Prices to accommodate various stakeholders. The purpose of this study is to determine the determinants of the natural gas price, both the Export Prices and Domestic Prices, using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) approach. The results show that Indonesian Crude Price (ICP) plays a significant role in determining the price of natural gas. ICP affects Export Prices in the long run and affects Domestic Prices in the short run. The Coal Price only affects the Export Price in the short run then it completely disappears in the long run. Apart from that, fundamental factors also play a role in determining the price of natural gas. Both the Export Price dan the Domestic Price are influenced by Supply and Demand in the long run. Meanwhile, only Demand is the determinant of natural gas prices in the short run.
