Analisis Wacana Kritis Pemberitaan Covid-19 pada Surat Kabar People's Daily dan The New York Times

Analisis Wacana Kritis berfokus pada ketimpangan dan relasi kekuasaan dalam wacana. Selain itu, juga bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi ideologi yang tersirat dalam wacana, sehingga mengungkap ketidakadilan, diskriminasi dan prasangka dalam wacana. Wacana berita sebagai salah satu wacana publik selalu menjadi fokus penelitian Analisis Wacana Kritis. Pandemi Covid-19 mendadak ini menjadi peristiwa terbesar di dunia pada tahun 2020. Krisis kesehatan masyarakat ini telah berkembang menjadi krisis ekonomi global. Berita internasional ini telah menjadi wacana spesial bagi publik. Selain itu, sistem wacana serta ideologi yang ditampilkan dalam pemberitaan Covid-19 oleh berbagai negara berbeda-beda. Penelitian ini menggunakan Three-dimensional model Fairclough dan Systemic Functional Grammar Halliday sebagai alat analisis, dan memilih 40 laporan dari People's Daily dan The New York Times tentang pandemi Covid-19 untuk Analisis Wacana Kritis. Untuk mengeksplorasi sikap media Tiongkok dan Amerika Serikat dalam kejadian ini dan ideologi yang terkandung dalam wacana pemberitaannya. Setelah analisis, ditemukan bahwa People apostrof s Daily dan The New York Times menggunakan banyak istilah negatif dan merendahkan. People apostrof s Daily berfokus pada penggambaran kinerja buruk pemerintah AS dalam perang melawan pandemi Covid-19, sementara The New York Times cenderung melaporkan kebijakan lockdown pemerintah Tiongkok, dan kondisi ekonomi untuk menunjukkan situasi buruk di Tiongkok. Perbedaan fokus pemberitaan media kedua negara tersebut mencerminkan adanya perbedaan ideologis yang diakibatkan oleh perbedaan budaya tersebut

Critical Discourse Analysis focuses on inequality and power relations in language. And also aims to explore the ideology implicit in the discourse, thereby exposing the injustice, discrimination and prejudice in the discourse. News discourse, as one of the public discourses, has always been the focus of Critical Discourse Analysis apostrophe s research. The sudden pandemic has become the world's biggest event in 2020. This public health crisis has evolved into a global economic crisis. Such international news is a special public discourse, and the discourse system and ideology displayed by various countries are different. This paper uses Fairclough apostrophe s Three-dimensional Framework and Halliday apostrophe s Systemic Functional Grammar as analysis tools, and selects 40 reports from the People apostrophe s Daily and The New York Times on the Covid-19 pandemic for Critical Discourse Analysis. To explore the attitudes of the media of the two countries in this incident and the ideology contained in their news discourse. After analysis, it is found that People apostrophe s Daily and The New York Times both use a lot of negative and derogatory terms. People apostrophe s Daily focuses on describing the poor performance of the U.S. government in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, while The New York Times tends to report on the Chinese government apostrophe s compulsory lockdown policy, and economic conditions to show the bad situation in China. The difference in the focus of the media coverage of the two countries reflects the ideological difference caused by the cultural difference.
