PEMBERITAAN KASUS COVID-19 DI INDONESIA DALAM KOMPAS.ID: ANALISIS WACANA KRITIS

Kompas.id merupakan salah satu media daring yang mendapatkan berbagai nominasi dan penghargaan di Indonesia. Sebagai media daring yang cukup banyak diakses oleh masyarakat, Kompas.id memiliki kuasa untuk memengaruhi pembaca. Salah satu pemberitaan yang dimuat dalam Kompas.id berkaitan dengan pemberitaan kasus Covid-19 di Indonesia mulai Maret 2020. Pemahaman masyarakat Indonesia terkait kasus Covid-19 dapat dipengaruhi oleh media yang mengonstruksi suatu wacana berita. Berkaitan dengan konstruksi suatu wacana berita, fokus dalam penelitian ini adalah menganalisis pemberitaan kasus Covid-19 di Indonesia dalam Kompas.id berdasarkan prinsip Analisis Wacana Kritis yang dipopulerkan oleh Fairclough. Analisis tiga dimensi Fairclough meliputi tiga kerangka yaitu analisis tekstual, praktik wacana, dan praktik sosiokultural. Pada penelitian ini, analisis tekstual diperdalam dengan analisis unsur-unsur linguistik melalui pendekatan Linguistik Sistemik Fungsional oleh Halliday. Selain itu, pandangan van Leeuwen terkait representasi aktor sosial juga digunakan untuk mengetahui representasi aktor-aktor sosial dalam wacana berita yang ingin ditampilkan media Kompas.id. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini diambil dari 20 teks berita tentang kasus Covid-19 yang diterbitkan oleh Kompas.id pada Maret hingga September 2020. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pilihan-pilihan tekstual pada media Kompas.id menggambarkan pihak-pihak yang menangani kasus Covid-19 memiliki citra positif. Media Kompas.id memberikan penekanan representasi pihak-pihak yang menangani kasus Covid-19 melalui aktivitas dan tindakan yang dilakukan selama menangani kasus Covid-19 di berbagai daerah. Sementara itu, pasien Covid-19 lebih sedikit disebutkan dalam wacana pemberitaan kasus Covid-19. Bahkan, pasien Covid-19 justru direpresentasikan dengan citra negatif melalui pilihan-pilihan tekstual dan sumber rujukan yang digunakan oleh media Kompas.id dalam wacana berita terkait kasus Covid-19.

Kompas.id is one of digital media which has received various nominations and awards in Indonesia. As a digital platform that is widely accessed by the public, Kompas.id has the power to influence readers. One of the news posted in Kompas.id is related to the coverage of the Covid-19 case in Indonesia which began to appear in March 2020. The perception of the Indonesian people regarding the Covid-19 case can be influenced by the media constructing a news discourse. In connection with the construction of news discourse, the focus of this research is to analyze the Covid-19 case in Kompas.id media based on the principles of Critical Discourse Analysis proposed by Fairclough. The Fairclough three-dimension analysis includes three frameworks, namely textual analysis, discursive practice, and sociocultural practice. In this study, a textual analysis was deepened by analyzing linguistic elements through Halliday's approach to Systemic Functional Linguistic. In addition, van Leeuwen's views regarding the representation of social actors were also used to determine the representation of social actors in the news discourse that Kompas.id media wants to display. This research uses qualitative and quantitative methods. The research data was taken from 20 news texts about the Covid-19 case published by Kompas.id from March to September 2020. The research result showed that the textual choices in Kompas.id media described the parties handling the Covid-19 case as having positive images. Kompas.id media emphasizes the representation of parties handling the Covid-19 case through activities and actions taken while handling the Covid-19 case in various regions. Meanwhile, Covid-19 patients were mentioned less in the discourse of reporting the Covid-19 case. In fact, Covid-19 patients are represented with negative images through textual choices and reference sources used by Kompas.id media in news discourse related to the Covid-19 case.
