The Correlation Between Family Atopic History and Severity of Atopic Dermatitis

Latar belakang: Dermatitis Atopik (DA) adalah suatu lesi kulit kronis. Lesi ini dihubungkan dengan banyak komorbiditas yang berdampak negatif pada kualitas hidup penderita. Komplikasi-komplikasi tersebut dikaitkan terhadap kasus DA dengan derajat keparahan berat. Sehingga untuk mempersiapkan pasien dan membuat manajemen sesuai dengan kasus pasien, suatu metode untuk memperkirakan derajat keparahan DA harus dirumuskan. Ini dapat dilakukan melalui salah satu faktor resiko DA yakni riwayat atopi keluarga, yang mencerminkan patogenesis lesi DA yang kompleks. Tujuan: Untuk menginvestigasi korelasi antara riwayat atopi keluarga dengan derajat keparahan DA Metode: Riwayat atopi keluarga diukur dengan Pediatric Allergy Trace Card dan derajat keparahan diukur menggunakan SCORAD Index. Data diambil dari rekam medis dan dari penelitian dr. Sumadiono berjudul Protokol Child Eczema 3-4 Pada Pasien Anak dengan Atopik Dermatitis. Analisis data menggunakan OR dan Fisher Exact Test Hasil: Tidak ada asosiasi yang signifikan antara riwayat atopi keluarga dengan derajat keparahan DA (risiko rendah atopi OR 1,56; 95% CI 0,31-7,75 dan risiko moderat-tinggi atopi OR 0,64; 95% CI 0,13-3,20). Konklusi: Tidak ada korelasi antara riwayat atopi keluarga dengan derajat keparahan DA.

Background: Atopic Dermatitis (AD), a common chronic cutaneous lesion, is associated with a lot of comorbidities which could negatively impact the quality of life (QoL) of patients. These complications are associated with severity. Hence, to further prepare patients and to tailor to a better management plan for AD, a conventional method of predicting AD severity should be formulated. This may be done through one of the strongest risk factor associated with AD which is family atopic history, that reflects a multifactorial pathogenesis of the lesion. Objective: In this study, the researcher investigates the correlation between family atopic history and severity of atopic dermatitis. Method: Family atopic history is measured by Pediatric Allergy Trace Care and severity is measured using SCORAD Index. Data is taken through medical records and from a research led by dr. Sumadiono titled Protokol Child Eczema 3-4 Pada Pasien Anak dengan Atopik Dermatitis. It is analyzed using OR and Fisher Exact Test. Results: The results given showed no significant association between family atopic history and severity of atopic dermatitis (low risk of atopy OR 1,56; 95% CI 0,31-7,75 and moderate-high risk of atopy OR 0,64; 95% CI 0,13-3,20). Conclusion: There is no correlation between family atopic history and severity of AD.
