Penggunaan Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) pada Perawatan Resesi Gingiva dengan Teknik Coronally Advanced Flap (CAF)

Resesi gingiva merupakan kondisi dimana gingiva cekat turun ke arah apikal dari Cemento-Enamel Junction (CEJ) sehingga menyebabkan terbukanya permukaan akar gigi. Perawatan resesi gingiva diperlukan untuk menutup kembali permukaan akar gigi yang terbuka. Salah satu prosedur bedah yang efektif dalam perawatan resesi gingiva adalah teknik Coronally Advanced Flap (CAF) tetapi teknik ini membutuhkan penambahan material regeneratif sehingga dapat dihasilkan penutupan akar yang lebih baik. Beberapa tahun terakhir, Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) mulai digunakan dalam prosedur perawatan resesi gingiva, termasuk pada teknik CAF. Tujuan dari review ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan penggunaan PRF pada perawatan resesi gingiva dengan teknik CAF. Artikel yang akan dibahas diperoleh dari database PubMed dan ScienceDirect. Jurnal berbahasa inggris dengan tahun terbit 2010-2020 akan digunakan, sementara jurnal yang tidak mencantumkan metode atau membahas resesi gingiva selain Miller klas I dan II tidak digunakan untuk review. Hasil review artikel menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi PRF dan teknik CAF mampu menghasilkan penutupan akar yang signifikan, ditinjau dari berbagai parameter. Dalam keterbatasan studi ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa PRF dapat digunakan sebagai material regeneratif yang efektif dalam merawat resesi gingiva.

Gingival recession is a condition when the attached gingiva is displaced past the Cemento-Enamel Junction (CEJ), causing the exposure of root surface. Root coverage procedure is need to be done to treat gingival recession problem. One of the effective procedures that gives a predictable result in treating gingival recession is Coronally Advanced Flap (CAF) technique. However, this technique needs other regenerative material to provide a better root coverage. These last few years, Platelet Rich Fibrin PRF is used in root coverage procedure including CAF. The purpose of this narrative review is to describe the effectiveness of using PRF with CAF technique in treating gingival recession. The articles that will be reviewed is obtained from PubMed and ScienceDirect databases. Journals that published in English from year 2010 to 2020 will be used, meanwhile journals that not contain methods or discuss about gingival recession other than Class I and II Miller will not be reviewed. The result of this narrative review showed that the combination of PRF and CAF techinique can gives a significant root coverage, reviewed from various parameters. Within this limitation of study, it can be concluded that PRF can be added as an effective regenerative material in treating gingival recession.
