EFEK PENGGUNAAN PERIODONTAL DRESSING ZINK OKSIDA EUGENOL DAN PERIODONTAL DRESSING ZINK OKSIDA NON-EUGENOL

Periodontal dressing adalah bahan yang diaplikasikan pada gigi dan jaringan periodontal untuk memberikan perlindungan pada luka secara fisik setelah dilakukan tindakan bedah. Periodontal dressing berbahan dasar zink oksida dikelompokkan menjadi periodontal dressing zink oksida eugenol dan periodontal dressing zink oksida non-eugenol. Setiap periodontal dressing memberikan efek yang berbeda terhadap jaringan. Tujuan dari narrative review ini untuk membandingkan efek positif dan negatif penggunaan periodontal dressing zink oksida eugenol dan periodontal dressing zink oksida non-eugenol. Scopus, PubMed dan Google Scholar digunakan sebagai database untuk mencari literature berdasarkan kata kunci periodontal dressing, periodontal pack, dressing, zinc oxide, eugenol, non-eugenol dan periodontal surgery. Total referensi yang digunakan sebanyak 45. Periodontal dressing zink oksida eugenol dapat menghilangkan rasa sakit, menyebabkan reaksi inflamasi, bersifat sitotoksisitas, menghambat aktivitas Candida albicans dan menyebabkan komplikasi penyembuhan. Periodontal dressing zink oksida non – eugenol menyebabkan rasa sakit, menyebabkan reaksi inflamasi, sitotoksisitas rendah, menyebabkan akumulasi plak dan tidak dapat mempercepat penyembuhan tetapi penyembuhan dapat berjalan dengan normal. Kesimpulan dari narrative review ini yaitu periodontal dressing zink oksida non-eugenol lebih aman digunakan pada rongga mulut dibandingkan periodontal dressing zink oksida eugenol.

Periodontal dressing is a material that is applied around the necks of the teeth and periodontal tissue to protect the wound physically after surgery. Periodontal dressings based on zinc oxide is grouped into zinc oxide eugenol periodontal dressing and zinc oxide non – eugenol periodontal dressing. Each periodontal dressing affects the tissue differently. The purpose of this narrative review is to compare the positive and negative effects of their use of zinc oxide eugenol periodontal dressing and zinc oxide non-eugenol periodontal dressing. Scopus, PubMed, and Google scholar are used as a database to search the literature based on the keyword periodontal dressing, periodontal pack, dressing, zinc oxide, eugenol, non-eugenol and periodontal surgery. The references used is 45. Zinc oxide eugenol periodontal dressing can relieve pain, causes inflammation, cytotoxicity, obstructs the activity of Candida albicans, and causes complications of healing. Zinc oxide non-eugenol periodontal dressing causes pain, inflammation, plaque accumulation, low cytotoxicity and cannot promote healing but the healing can function normally. The conclusion is zinc oxide non-eugenol periodontal dressing is safer when used in the oral cavity than the use of zinc oxide eugenol periodontal dressing.
