INTERGENERATIONAL CARE CENTER DENGAN PENDEKATAN BIOPHILIC DESIGN DI YOGYAKARTA

Jumlah ansia diprediksi akan mendominasi 1/5 dari keseluruhan populasi Indonesia mengingat jumlah angka kelahiran yang semakin menurun setiap tahunnya. Oleh sebab itu fasilitas penunjang seperti panti jompo akan sangat dibutuhkan untuk menampung lansia dengan berbagai macam latar belakang. Panti jompo sendiri saat ini bukanlah lagi menjadi tempat tinggal untuk lansia yang telantar, tetapi juga sebagai wadah untuk memberikan ruang berinteraksi sosial antar lansia disisa hari tua. Hal ini disebabkan karena terdapat pergeseran gaya hidup serta persepsi mengenai keberadaan panti jompo. Dulu memasukkan lansia ke panti jompo dinilai tabu dan tidak etis, oleh sebab itu lansia yang ditampung di panti jompo berasal dari lansia terlantar. Namun saat ini terdapat trend di mana lansia berkeinginan untuk tinggal di panti jompo karena tidak ingin merepotkan keluarganya dan ingin berada diantara teman sebayanya. Oleh sebab itu keberadaan panti jompo eksklusif ini semakin marak di kota besar sebagai alternatif pilihan tempat tinggal bagi lansia. Tipologi panti jompo eksklusif di Indonesia saat ini umumnya menerapkan desain berbasis senior co-housing dan belum ada yang berbasis intergenerational, padahal tipologi ini sudah sangat lazim di luar negri. Oleh sebab itu intergenerational care center ini dihadirkan sebagai salah satu alternatif tipologi fungsi panti jompo karena memiliki pendekatan yang berbeda, yakni menggabungkan panti jompo dengan children daycare dalam satu wadah dan program yang sama. Sinergi ini dinilai dapat memberikan manfaat postif bagi kedua penggunanya dan diharapkan dapat menjadi preseden baru dalam tipologi panti jompo di Indonesia.

The number of elderly is predicted to dominate 1/5 of the total population of Indonesia, given the number of births that continues to decline each year. Therefore supporting facilities such as nursing homes will be needed to accommodate the elderly with a variety of backgrounds. The nursing home itself is no longer a place to live for the elderly who are neglected, but also as a place to provide a space for social interaction between the elderly. This is because there is a shift in lifestyle and perceptions about the existence of nursing homes. In the past entering the elderly into nursing homes was considered taboo and unethical, therefore the elderly who were accommodated in nursing homes were from abandoned elderly. But now there is a trend where the elderly themselves want to live in nursing homes because they do not want to bother their families and want to be among their peers. Therefore, the existence of this exclusive nursing home is increasingly prevalent in big cities as a choice of residence for the elderly. The typology of exclusive nursing homes in Indonesia currently generally applies a senior co-housing based design and none has been intergenerationally based, even though this typology is already very prevalent abroad. Therefore this intergenerational care center is presented as an alternative typology of the function of the nursing home because it has a different approach, which is to combine nursing homes with children daycare in one place and with the same program. This synergy is considered to provide positive benefits for both users and is expected to set a new precedent in the typology of nursing homes in Indonesia.
