STRATEGI EKSISTENSI HIMPUNAN MAHASISWA GAY (HIMAG) DALAM USAHA MEMPERJUANGKAN HAK-HAK DASAR MAHASISWA LGBT PADA RANAH PENDIDIKAN TINGGI

Dewasa ini penolakan terhadap eksistensi kelompok LGBT di dalam masyarakat melalui tindakan-tindakan diskriminatif masih sering terjadi. Bahkan pada ranah pendidikan tinggi yang seharusnya bebas dari unsur diskriminatif terhadap suatu kelompok, menjadi lingkungan yang eksklusif bagi kelompok LGBT untuk berkembang. Himag sebagai salah satu komunitas pro-LGBT yang didirikan oleh beberapa mahasiswa LGBT di dalam lingkungan kampus dengan tujuan menjadi media bagi mahasiswa LGBT untuk mengaktualisasikan dirinya, membentuk support system, serta mengedukasi mahasiswa-mahasiswa LGBT untuk lebih mengenal diri mereka dengan menggunakan konsep SOGIESC (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Gender Expression, dan Sex Characteristics) agar masing-masing anggota memahami permasalahan apa yang mereka hadapi secara personal sebagai seorang LGBT di dalam kehidupan sosial yang dimiliki oleh masing-masing anggota. Seiring dengan perkembangan Himag, terdapat permasalahan-permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh Himag dan berpengaruh pada eksistensi dan keberlangsungan kegiatan yang Himag miliki. Salah satu permasalahan terbesar ketika Pers Mahasiswa Balairung Pers mengeluarkan Majalah Balkon Edisi Mahasiswa Baru 2016 yang mengangkat topik mengenai Himag dan berdampak pada berhentinya seluruh kegiatan rutin dan keluarnya sejumlah anggota Himag. Meskipun menghadapi permasalahan-permasalahan yang menjadi resistensi bagi eksistensi komunitas, Himag secara kolektif maupun para anggotanya secara personal melakukan beberapa strategi untuk mempertahankan eksistensi mereka sebagai komunitas pro-LGBT maupun sebagai individu LGBT, dimana hal tersebut yang akan dijelaskan dan dianalisis di dalam penelitian ini. Melalui strategi eksistensi seperti melalui pendidikan, kolaborasi dengan membangun jejaring dengan organisasi pro-LGBT seperti PKBI, PLUSH, dan Vesta, strategi persuasi dengan bersama dengan organisasi pro-LGBT mengajak para anggota dan mahasiswa LGBT di luar Himag untuk mengikuti VCT, serta strategi konfrontasi melalui beberapa kegiatan aksi yang diikuti oleh beberapa anggota secara personal, Himag secara kolektif sebagai kelompok dan para anggota secara personal mencoba mempertahankan eksistensi mereka. Faktor-faktor seperti kepemimpinan yang dijalankan oleh para anggota senior dalam pengambilan keputusan, kepatuhan para anggota Himag, serta pihak eksternal berupa penolakan dari beberapa pihak dan dukungan dari kelompok masyarakat maupun beberapa organisasi memberikan pengaruh tersendiri bagaimana Himag sebagai sebuah komunitas pro-LGBT maupun para anggota Himag sebagai seorang LGBT mampu mempertahankan eksistensi mereka hingga saat ini.

Today, rejection of the existence of LGBT groups in society through discriminatory actions still often happens. Even in the realm of higher education which should be free from discriminatory elements towards a group, it becomes an exclusive environment for LGBT groups to develop. Himag as one of the pro-LGBT communities established by several LGBT students in the campus environment with the aim of becoming a media for LGBT students to actualize themselves, form a support system and educate LGBT students to get to know themselves better by using the concept of SOGIESC (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Gender Expression, and Sex Characteristics) so that each member understands what problems they face personally as an LGBT in the social life owned by each member. Along with the development of Himag, there are problems faced by Himag and affect the existence and sustainability of the activities that Himag has. One of the biggest problems when the University Student Press Press released the 2016 New Student Edition Balcony Magazine which raised the topic of Himag and impacted on the cessation of all routine activities and the departure of a number of Himag members. Despite facing problems that are a resistance to the existence of the community, Himag collectively and its members personally undertook several strategies to maintain their existence as a pro-LGBT community or as LGBT individuals, which will be explained and analyzed in this study. Through the existence of strategies such as through education, a collaboration by building networks with pro-LGBT organizations such as PKBI, PLUSH, and Vesta, persuasion strategies together with pro-LGBT organizations invite LGBT members and students outside Himag to join VCT, and confrontation strategies through some action activities that are participated by several members personally, Himag collectively as a group and members personally try to maintain their existence. Factors such as leadership carried out by senior members in decision making, the obedience of Himag members, as well as external parties in the form of rejection from some parties and support from community groups and several organizations have their own influence on how Himag as a pro-LGBT community and Himag members as LGBT people are able to maintain their existence until now.
