NOVEL PERGI KARYA TERE LIYE: ANALISIS LATAR MENURUT ROBERT STANTON

Objek material dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Pergi karya Tere Liye. Objek formal yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori struktur novel Robert Stanton. Untuk pertama kalinya, penelitian ini mendeskripsikan secara detail novel Pergi karya Tere Liye dari segi latar. Rumusan masalah dari penelitian ini dibagi menjadi tiga: unsur latar, fungsi latar, dan hubungan antarunsur latar novel Pergi karya Tere Liye. Penelitian ini memiliki dua tujuan: tujuan teoretis dan tujuan praktis. Tujuan teoretis dari penelitian ini adalah menerapkan teori strukturalisme Robert Stanton yang meliputi mendeskripsikan unsur latar, fungsi latar, dan hubungan antarunsur latar dalam novel Pergi karya Tere Liye. Tujuan praktis dalam penelitian ini memberikan apresiasi terhadap karya sastra dan meningkatkan wawasan terhadap pentingnya kajian kesastraan Indonesia. Stanton mengartikan latar sebagai lingkungan peristiwa, latar belakang yang terlihat, waktu dalam sehari atau setahun, cuaca atau iklim, periode sejarah, dan orang-orang yang melatarbelakangi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa unsur latar terdiri atas latar belakang yang terlihat, waktu dalam sehari atau setahun, cuaca atau iklim, periode sejarah, dan orang-orang yang melatarbelakangi cerita untuk menganalisis novel Pergi karya Tere Liye. Unsur latar dalam novel memiliki fungsi yang meliputi menggambarkan tempat yang terlihat, waktu, keadaan cuaca yang sedang terjadi, periode sejarah, dan kehidupan orang-orang di dalam cerita. Dengan demikian, latar mempunyai fungsi yang beragam di dalam karya sastra berbentuk prosa termasuk novel. Dalam menganalisis novel Pergi, peneliti juga menyertakan hubungan antarunsur latar yang meliputi tempat, waktu, cuaca, periode sejarah, dan orang-orang yang melatarbelakangi yang membentuk kesatuan cerita.

The material object in this research is a Tere Liye's novel titled Pergi. The formal object used in this research is Robert Stanton's novel structure theory. For the first time, this study describes in detail of novel Pergi by Tere Liye from the perspective of its setting. The problem formulation of this research is divided into three: setting elements, background functions, and the relationship between the background elements of Tere Liye's novel Go. This research has two objectives: theoretical purpose and practical purpose. The theoretical purpose of this research is to apply Robert Stanton's structuralism theory which includes describing the background elements, background functions, and the relationship between the background elements in Tere Liye's novel, Pergi. The practical purpose in this study is to provide an appreciation of literary works and increase insight into the importance of Indonesian literary studies. Stanton defines the setting as the environment of its events, the visible background, the time of the day or the year, the climater, the historical period, and the people in the background. The results of the analysis show that the background elements consist of the visible background, the time of the day or the year, the climater, historical period, and the people in the background in story to analyze Tere Liye's novel Pergi. The setting elements in the novel have a function which includes describing the visible place, time, current weather conditions, historical periods, and the lives of the people in the story. Thus, settings have various functions in literary works in the form of prose, including novels. In analyzing the novel Pergi, the researcher also includes the relationship between the background elements which include place, time, weather, historical period, and the people who form the background of the story.
