Penilaian Kesejahteraan Kuda Andong Di Daerah Yogyakarta

Andong merupakan salah satu moda transportasi tradisional, selain mendukung perekonomian juga pariwisata di Yogyakarta sebagai kota tujuan wisata kedua di Indonesia. Oleh sebab itu keberadaannya perlu dilestarikan. Salah satu upaya pelestariaan adalah dengan memperhatikan kesejahteraan kuda sebagai penggerak utama moda transportasi tersebut. Penelitian dilakukan dengan tujuan mengetahui tingkat kesejahteraan kuda andong di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Sebagai responden adalah 50 kusir andong yang sekaligus adalah pemilik 120 ekor sampel kuda . Parameter yang diamati adalah profile pemilik kuda dan kuda-kudanya serta penilaian tingkat kesejahteraan berdasarkan aspek good feeding, good housing, good health dan appropriate behaviour menggunakan protokol Wageningen University Welfare Monitoring System © 2011 dan AWIN Welfare Assessment Protocol for Horses 2015. Pencapaian kesejahteraan dianalisis berdasarkan skoring pada setiap aspek dengan indikator yang telah ditetapkan. Hasil menunjukkan untuk aspek good feeding dan good housing didominasi oleh kategori cukup, pada aspek good health mayoritas kategori baik, pada aspek appropriate behavior kategori sangat baik. Disimpulkan bahwa tingkat kesejahteraan kuda andong di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta mayoritas pada kategori baik.

Andong is one of the traditional modes of transportation, in addition to supporting the economy as well as tourism in Yogyakarta as the second tourist destination city in Indonesia. Therefore, its existence needs to be preserved. One of the preservation efforts is to pay attention to the welfare of the horse as the main driver of the mode of transportation. The research was conducted to measure the level of welfare of horses in Yogyakarta. The respondent were 50 coachmen who also the owners of 120 andong carriage horses which used as samples. The parameters observed were the profile the horse’s owner and their horses, as well as assessment of the level of welfare based on the principles of proper feeding, suitable housing, good health, and appropriate behavior. The assessment using the Wageningen University Welfare Monitoring System © 2011 protocol and the AWIN Welfare Assessment Protocol for Horses 2015. The level of animal welfare achievement is analyzed based on scoring on each principle with established indicators. The results show that enough categories dominate the principles of good feeding and good housing, good for the health, and very good for the appropriate behavior. It was concluded that the majority of andong horse welfare in Yogyakarta was categorized as good.
