Peran Viktimisasi Cyberbullying terhadap Kecenderungan Depresi melalui Self-Esteem sebagai Mediator

Korban cyberbullying ditemukan mengalami masalah-masalah kesehatan mental, dengan depresi sebagai salah satu yang memiliki prevalensi tertinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji secara empiris peran dari viktimisasi cyberbullying terhadap kecenderungan depresi melalui self-esteem sebagai mediator pada 692 siswa SMA. Viktimisasi cyberbullying, self-esteem, dan kecenderungan depresi secara berurutan diukur oleh Cyberbullying Victimization Scale, Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory, dan Patient Health Questionnaire-9. Data dianalisis oleh model mediasi dengan analisis regresi jalur. Ditemukan bahwa viktimisasi cyberbullying memiliki peran yang signifikan terhadap kecenderungan depresi, baik itu melalui self-esteem sebagai mediator parsial.
With the rising numbers of Internet usage, bullying in adolescents has shifted to a cyber platform to facilitate a more persistent, anonymous, and permanent behavior. Victims of cyberbullying report several mental health problems, with depression as one of the most prevalent. This study aimed to empirically examine the role of cyberbullying victimization on depression tendencies through the mediating role of self-esteem in 692 senior high school students. Cyberbullying victimization, self-esteem, and depression tendencies were measured by the Cyberbullying Victimization Scale, Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory, and Patient Health Questionnaire-9, respectively. The acquired data was analyzed by mediation model in regression path analysis and showed that cyberbullying victimization plays a positive role in depression tendencies through self-esteem as partial mediator.
