WORKING STATION LAYOUT EFFICIENCY ANALYSIS IN A PRECAST CONCRETE MANUFACTURER USING LINE BALANCING METHOD

Beton pracetak adalah salah satu industri yang tumbuh cukup cepat dalam beberapa tahun terakhir ini di Indonesia. Pemerintah Indonesia telah menggalakkan peningkatan kapasitas nasional sebesar 50% untuk tahun 2019 di industri beton pracetak. Karena hanya ada 42 pabrik yang terdaftar di Asosiasi Perusahaan Pracetak dan Prategang Indonesia, dapat dikatakan bahwa kompetisi yang ada cukup berat karena sedikitnya pengusaha di industri ini. Oleh karena itu, perusahaan harus bekerja dengan baik dan memproduksi dengan efisien agar dapat bertahan di pasar. Salah satu faktor yang dapat diperbaiki untuk meningkatkan performa dan efisiensi perusahaan adalah tata letak. PT Rahayu Bhuana Karya adalah salah satu perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang beton pracetak dengan produk yang paling populernya adalah U-ditch. Perusahaan ini masih cukup baru dan cukup kecil, sehingga perusahaan dipaksa untuk dapat cepat beradaptasi dengan kondisi pasar dan beroperasi secara efisien agar dapat memenuhi target produksi nasional. Untuk meningkatkan efisiensi, metode line balancing akan digunakan untuk menganalisa tata letak perusahaan. Dengan menggunakan metode heuristic, analisa ini akan menghasilkan jumlah stasiun kerja paling sedikit yang meminimalkan ketidakseimbangan antara mesin atau personal sementara memenuhi target produksi. Hasilnya adalah lima stasiun kerja dengan waktu siklus 15 menit. Dengan tatanan ini, efisiensi yang tercapai adalah 86.67% dan waktu menganggurnya adalah 13.33%.

Precast concrete is one of the industries that has been growing quickly in Indonesia in the recent years. The government has encouraged a national capacity enhancement of 50 percent up for the year 2019 for the precast industry. Since there are only 42 registered manufacturers in Asosiasi Perusahaan Pracetak dan Prategang Indonesia, the competition can be said to be quite tough due to small number of players in the market. Thus, companies need to perform well and be efficient in producing its product to be able to survive in the market. One of the factors that can be improved to increase a firm’s performance and efficiency is the layout design. PT Rahayu Bhuana Karya is one of the companies that deals with manufacturing precast concrete with one of its most popular products being U-ditch. The company is still new and relatively small, thus forcing the company to be able quickly adjust itself in the market and operate efficiently to match the demand and the national production target. To improve its efficiency, line balancing method will be used to analyse the layout design of the company. Using heuristics methods, the analysis results in a minimum number of workstations which minimise imbalance between machines or personnel while meeting the required output from the line. The result is five workstations setup with a cycle time of 15 minutes. This setup gives an efficiency level of 86.67% and an idle time of 13.33%.
