The Effect of Empathetic Leadership to Employee Job Satisfaction and The Mediating Role of Employee Need Satisfaction. (A Study of Indonesian Millennials in the Start-up Industry)

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh empathetic leadership pada job satisfaction dengan need satisfaction sebagai variabel mediasi, studi pada generasi milenial di industri start-up Indonesia. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah survei dengan jumlah responden 137 responden yang merupakan karyawan aktif perusahaan start-up di Indonesia, pria dan wanita berwarna negara Indonesia berdomisili di pulau Jawa, dan merupakan bagian dari generasi milenial, yang berarti lahir pada tahun 1984 � 1999 atau berumur 21 sampai 36 tahun pada tahun 2020. Metode analisis menggunakan regresi linier sederhana dan juga regresi berganda, menggunakan PROCESS Macro yang di kembangkan oleh Andrew Hayes (2013). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa empathetic leadership secara signifikan berpengaruh secara positif terhadap job satisfaction dan need satisfaction mampu memediasi pengaruh positif empathetic leadership terhadap job satisfaction.

The research aims to examine the relationship between empathetic leadership to job satisfaction with need satisfaction as a mediating variable, a study of Indonesian Millennials in the Start-up Industry. The data collection method used in this research is through a survey with 137 respondents. Respondents criteria are active employees of a star-up company operating in Indonesia, male and female Indonesian citizen that reside in Java Island, and belongs to the millennial generation, meaning that they are born between 1984 -1999 or should be 21 to 36 years old in the year 2020. Simple regression analysis and multiple regression analysis were utilized to the test the hypothesis in this research, utilizing the PROCESS Macro approach developed by Andrew Hayes (2013). The result of shows that empathetic leadership has a positively significant effect to job satisfaction. Need satisfaction may mediate the positive influence of empathetic leadership to job satisfaction.
