Informasi data cuaca sangat diperlukan dalam berbagai sektor namun masih terdapat kesulitan untuk memperoleh data cuaca terbuka dengan resolusi memadai. Data cuaca tersebut dapat diperoleh melalui instansi resmi namun perlu menempuh prosedur administrasi dan mengeluarkan biaya tertentu sehingga tidak memberikan fleksibilitas terhadap akses dan penggunaan data cuaca. Sebagai solusi alternatif dibutuhkan suatu platform yang bersifat terbuka, dengan dukungan kontribusi dari pengguna guna mengembangkan platform tersebut. Maka dari itu, dibuatlah iSATU (Indonesia Stasiun Cuaca Terbuka) sebagai sistem komunitas cuaca yang bersifat terbuka bagi para anggotanya dengan konsep "caring and sharing". Bagi anggota yang hendak mengakses data cuaca pada komunitas iSATU, mempunyai kewajiban untuk berperan sebagai kontributor data terlebih dahulu. Dalam pengembangan iSATU dibagi menjadi: 1. Platform iSATU (web services untuk mengirimkan data dari device ke basis data dan website sebagai user interface) 2. Prototype device (Seperangkat alat pengukur data cuaca yang dapat diikuti oleh pengguna dalam komunitas iSATU). Pengembangan iSATU didasari atas kebutuhan akan data dalam era industri 4.0 (disebut juga era data dan informasi). Dimana banyak data diperlukan untuk diolah menjadi informasi yang dibutuhkan seperti prediksi suatu fenomena. Dengan berdirinya iSATU sebagai platform sharing data cuaca diharapkan dapat menjadi salah satu solusi dari pondasi industri 4.0 yang membantu dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan data dalam hal ini khusus data cuaca.

Weather data information is needed in various sectors but there are still difficulties in obtaining open weather data with adequate resolution. The weather data can be obtained through official agencies but it is necessary to take administrative procedures and pay certain costs so that it does not provide flexibility to access and use weather data. As an alternative solution an open platform is needed, with the support of contributions from users to develop the platform. Therefore, iSATU (Indonesia Stasiun Cuaca Terbuka) was made as a weather community system that is open to its members with the concept of "caring and sharing". For members who want to access weather data in the iSATU community, they have the obligation to act as data contributors first. In the development of iSATU divided into: 1. iSATU platform (web services for sending data from devices to databases and websites as user interface) 2. Prototype device (A set of weather gauges that can be followed by users in the iSATU community). The development of iSATU is based on the need for data in the industrial era 4.0 (also called the data and information era). Where a lot of data is needed to be processed into the information needed such as the prediction of a phenomenon. With the establishment of iSATU as a weather data sharing platform it is expected to be one of the solutions from the industry 4.0 foundation that helps in meeting data needs in this case specifically weather data.
