Representasi Penembakan di Dua Masjid Selandia Baru pada Cnn.com dan Nzherald.com: Analisis Wacana Kritis

Media massa merupakan tempat berkumpulnya informasi yang dibutuhkan oleh masyarakat secara luas untuk berkembang. Namun di balik semua berita yang ditayangkan oleh media massa baik itu lokal ataupun internasional, informasi yang ditayangkan tidak semuanya murni untuk berbagi informasi. Akan tetapi, ada maksud dan tujuan (ideologi) tertentu yang dimasukkan ke dalam wacana melalui perbedaan representasi dari peristiwa yang ditayangkan. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap ideologi melalui representasi dari cnn.com dan nzherald.com tentang peristiwa penembakan di dua Masjid Selandia Baru. Untuk mengetahui perbedaan tersebut, peneliti menggunakan tiga dimensi Fairclough, yakni analisis tekstual, prakti wacana, dan praktik sosiokultural. Pada analisis tekstual, Linguistik Sistemik Fungsional (LSF) Halliday digunakan untuk mendukung ketajaman dalam menganalisis teks. Hasil dari penelian ini ditemukan bahwa kedua media massa tidak ada yang berpihak kepada masyarakat kecil dan hanya merepresentasikan peristiwa itu sesuai dengan ideologi masing-masing media. Pada wacana cnn.com, pihak media massa hanya ingin publik mengetahui bahwa penyebab dari peristiwa penembakan itu adalah teroris yang memanfaatkan undang-undang senjata api harus direvisi. Sementara pada wacana nzherald.com, pihak media massa terlihat menutupi apa yang menjadi penyebab dari peristiwa itu dan berupaya untuk membuat publik beranggapan bahwa peristiwa itu tidak menggoyakan budaya ramah tamah di Selandia Baru.

Mass media is an information center place that is needed by the society to grow up. However, behind all the news that is published by the mass media, both local and international, the information is not merely published for sharing information. But it have certain goals and objectives (ideology) related to the discourse through different representations of the publishing event. Based on these problems, this study aims to investigate the ideolgy through the representation both of mass media, namely cnn.com and nzherald.com, about the shooting incidents at two New Zealand Mosques. To find out these differences, the researcher used three Fairclough dimensions such textual, discourse practices, and sociocultural practices. In textual analysis, Halliday's Functional Systemic Linguistics (LSF) is used to support in analyzing texts. The results of this study found that both of mass media is not favor with the public. However, they only represent the event with their ideology. In cnn.com, the discourse only want the public to know that the cause of the shooting incident was a terrorist who made use of an obsolete firearm law. While in nzherald.com, the discourse covers up what is the cause of the incident and try to make the public think that the event did not shake the suave culture in New Zealand.
