THE EFFECTS OF THE DIMENSIONS OF MINDFULNESS ON WORK ENGAGEMENT: A Study on State-Owned Bank Employees of Yogyakarta

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi hubungan antara mindfulness dan keterikatan kerja. Secara khusus, penelitian ini mencoba untuk menyimpulkan dimensi mindfulness ("awareness", "attention", "present focus", atau "acceptance") mana yang memiliki pengaruh terbesar atas keterikatan kerja. Pegawai bank umum milik pemerintah di Yogyakarta diminta untuk berpartisipasi dalam penelitian dengan mengisi kuesioner cetak. Sebanyak 75 tanggapan yang valid dianalisis melalui prosedur dua langkah (analisis faktor konfirmatori [CFA] dan analisis regresi sederhana serta berganda). Temuan penelitian ini menemukan bahwa mindfulness, secara kolektif, memiliki pengaruh positif yang signifikan terhadap keterikatan kerja. Pada tingkat dimensi, dimensi mindfulness yang paling berdampak, diurutkan dari yang paling berpengaruh, yakni "awareness", "acceptance", dan "attention". Namun, "present focus" memiliki kontribusi yang tidak signifikan terhadap keterikatan kerja.
Despite substantial research on mindfulness in the clinical psychology arena, there is still a need for continued research in the human resources avenue. This study aims to explore the links between mindfulness and work engagement. Specifically, this study tries to find which aspect of mindfulness ("awareness", "attention", "present focus", or "acceptance") has the biggest predictive power of work engagement. The state-owned public bank employees of Yogyakarta were asked to participate in the research through a self-administered questionnaire. A total of 75 valid responses were analyzed through a two-step procedure (confirmatory factor analysis [CFA] and simple or multiple regression analysis). The findings of this research found that mindfulness, collectively, has a significant positive influence on work engagement. At the dimensional level, the most impactful dimensions of mindfulness, respectively, were "awareness", "acceptance", and "attention". However, "present focus" had an insignificant contribution to work engagement.
