Potensi Ekstrak Rumput Laut (Sargassum crassifolium) sebagai Antistres Transportasi Kambing Jawa Randu

Transportasi ternak adalah hal yang penting dalam proses pemenuhan kebutuhan daging berbagai daerah di Indonesia. Namun proses yang tidak benar akan menimbulkan ternak stres. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi ekstrak rumput laut (Sargassum crassifolium) sebagai antistres Kambing Jawa Randu yang ditransportasikan. Penelitian menggunakan sembilan ekor Kambing Jawa Randu yang diberi induksi stres dengan ditransportasikan selama 12 jam dengan jarak tempuh kurang lebih 200 km. Penelitian dibagi menjadi tiga perlakuan yaitu: pemberian ekstrak Sargassum crassifolium, Vitamin B-1, dan Aquadest yang diberikan satu jam sebelum transportasi. Sampel darah diambil sebanyak empat kali melalui vena jugularis sebanyak 3 cc sebelum transportasi, saat loading, enam jam transportasi, dan akhir transportasi. Pengukuran konsentrasi kortisol dengan menggunakan kit kortisol ELISA komersial (Calbiotech) dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS). Hasil penelitian dengan uji Independent Sample T-Test ditemukan adanya perbedaan kadar kortisol yang signifikan pada kelompok perlakuan Sargassum crassifolium saat loading dibandingkan dengan akhir transportasi (p<0,05). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak Sargassum crassifolium dapat menurunkan kadar kortisol darah secara signifikan sehingga berpotensi untuk digunakan sebagai anti stres pada kambing yang ditransportasikan.

This study aims to find out the potential for seaweed extract (Sargassum crassifolium) as the antistress of the transiting Javanese goat. The study used nine of the Randu Java goats to be stressed by being transported for 12 hours with a mileage of more or less 200 km. The research is divided into three treatments: administering the Sargassum crassifolium, Vitamin B-1, and Aquadest given one hour before transport. Blood samples were taken four times through the jugular vein by 3 cc before transport, while loading, six hours of transportation, and the end of transportation. Measurement of cortisol concentrations by using a commercial ELISA cortisol kit (Calbiotech) and analyzed using the Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS). The results of the Independent Sample T-Test were found to have significant differences in cortisol levels in the Sargassum crassifolium treatment group when loading compared to the final transport phase (P <0.05). Based on the results of the research it can be concluded that Sargassum crassifolium extract can lower blood cortisol levels significantly so that it is potentially to be used as an anti-stress in the transported goat.ocess will cause livestock stress.
