Tugas akhir ini memiliki fokus pada proses klasifikasi arsip Paku Alam V tahun 1878-1900 yang disimpan di Arsip Puro Pakualaman. Tujuan dari penulisan kajian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui kondisi, proses pelaksanaan, dan sarana prasarana yang digunakan dalam klasifikasi arsip. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tiga metode seperti studi pustaka, wawancara, dan observasi. Metode studi pustaka dapat dilakukan dengan cara mempelajari, memahami, serta mengutip teori-teori dari sumber referensi atau bahan pustaka sesuai dengan permasalahan. Metode wawancara dilakukan dengan melakukan interview dengan arsiparis serta staff pengelola arsip di Puro Pakualaman. Metode observasi dilakukan secara partisipatif saat dilakukan kegiatan Praktik Kerja Lapangan di bagian Arsip Puro Pakualaman. Dalam tugas akhir ini, diambil kesimpulan bahwa kondisi arsip Paku Alam V masih belum memberkas dan campur dengan arsip periode lain. Klasifikasi arsip Paku Alam V dilakukan dengan prinsip provenance dengan mengacu pada struktur administrasi Kabupaten Pakualaman dan Kabupaten Adikarto. Kesulitan pengelompokkan dalam penempatan masalah merupakan kendala utama dalam klasifikasi arsip. Oleh sebab itu, sarana bantu utama adalah kartu deskripsi.

This final project focusses on the classification process of Paku Alam V archives (1878-1900) in Arsip Puro Pakualaman. The purpose of this study is to describe the archives condition, classification process, and the facilities used in the archival classification. There are three methods used to collect the data, such as literature study, interview, and observation. The first method, literature study can be done by learning, understanding, and quoting information from the sources or literature related to the problem. The second method, interview can be done by doing an interview with archivists and staff in Arsip Puro Pakualaman. The last method, participative observation obtained by doing internship program in Arsip Puro Pakualaman. In this final project, it is concluded that the condition of Paku Alam V archives has not been filed and is still mixed with other period archives. The Paku Alam V archival classification is carried out with the provenance principle by referring to the administrative structure of the Pakualaman Regency and the Adikarto Regency. The difficulty of grouping in problem placement is a major obstacle in the classification of archives. Therefore, the main aid to arrange the archives is the description card.
