KUALITAS HIDUP LANSIA YANG MENDAPATKAN DUKUNGAN SOSIAL DARI CUCU

Masa lanjut usia atau lansia merupakan masa terakhir dalam rentang kehidupan manusia. Kualitas hidup lansia menjadi penting karena masa ini merupakan masa persiapan dalam menghadapi kematian. Dukungan sosial khususnya dari keluarga merupakan salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi kualitas hidup lansia. Penelitian ini berfokus pada dukungan sosial yang didapatkan lansia dari cucu yang tinggal dalam satu rumah. Oleh karena itu, pada penelitian ini berusaha melihat kualitas hidup dari tiga responden lansia serta dukungan sosial yang diberikan oleh ketiga cucunya sebagai significant other. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif serta Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) sebagai teknik analisis data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa setiap lansia memaknai kualitas hidupnya masing-masing secara berbeda. Pemaknaan ini sangat dipengaruhi oleh prinsip hidup yang dipegang oleh masing-masing lansia. Kemudian, terdapat empat jenis dukungan sosial yang dapat diberikan oleh cucu, yaitu dukungan emosional, penilaian, instrumental, serta informasional. Dukungan sosial yang diberikan oleh cucu ini sangat dipengaruhi oleh relasi antara lansia dengan cucunya.

Old age phase or elderly is the last phase in human life span. Quality of life in the elderly becomes important because this is a preparation phase to face death. Social support from family is one of the factors influencing quality of life in the elderly. This research focuses on social support that elderly receive from their grandchildren who lives in the same house. Therefore, this research trying to perceive the quality of life from three elders and social support given to them by their three grandchildren as significant other. This research uses qualitative method and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) as data analysis technique. The outcome of this research indicates that every elder interpret their quality of life in different ways. This interpretations are generously affected by their life principles. Thereupon, there is four types of social support that grandchildren can give, such as emotional, appraisal, instrumental, and informational support. Social support given by grandchildren are greatly affected by their relation to their elders.
