IMBAL BALIK PENDIDIKAN: PERBEDAAN TINGKAT UPAH ANTAR LULUSAN PERGURUAN TINGGI

Imbal balik pendidikan bukan hanya ditentukan oleh lama tahun pendidikan, tetapi juga dapat dipengaruhi oleh jenis perguruan tinggi yang mereka akses pada periode sebelum memasuki pasar tenaga kerja. Penelitian ini mengestimasi imbal balik pendidikan menggunakan metode Instrumental Variable (IV) untuk mengatasi masalah endogenitas dan omitted variable bias dari keberadaan atau pilihan seseorang untuk bersekolah pada jenis perguruan tinggi tertentu. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa secara rata-rata lulusan Perguruan Tinggi Negeri memiliki tingkat upah yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan lulusan Perguruan Tinggi Swasta. Perbedaan ini secara umum mengalami penurunan di tahun 2014. Berdasarkan kohort umur, ditemukan bahwa antara usia 21 hingga 35 tahun, adanya perbedaan jenis perguruan tinggi ini berdampak signifikan terhadap tingkat upah sedangkan untuk usia 36 tahun ke atas tidak berdampak signifikan.

Not only the length of the education year that can determine education returns, but also can be influenced by the type of tertiary institution they access in the period before entering the labor market. This study estimates educational returns using the Instrumental Variable (IV) method to overcome the problem of endogeneity and omitted variable bias from the existence or choice at a particular type of college. The results of this study show that on average graduates from Public Universities have higher wage rates than graduates from Private Universities. This difference generally decreased in 2014. Based on the age cohort, it was found that between the ages of 21 to 35 years, the existence of different types of tertiary institutions had a significant impact on wage rates while for ages 36 and above had no significant impact.
