PROSEDUR PENERJEMAHAN SUBTITLE FILM "MARLINA SI PEMBUNUH DALAM EMPAT BABAK" KE DALAM "MARLINA THE MURDERER IN FOUR ACTS"

Penerjemahan audiovisual berbentuk subtitle memberikan kesulitan yang berbeda dengan jenis penerjemahan yang lain akibat pergeseran mode dari lisan ke tulisan. Penerapan prosedur penerjemahan dan orientasinya menjadi hal yang perlu dipertimbangkan dengan hati-hati demi hasil terjemahan yang berhasil tanpa melanggar batasan yang ditentukan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini menganalisis prosedur dan orientasi penerjemahan yang diterapkan penerjemah saat menyusun subtitle film Marlina si Pembunuh dalam Empat Babak. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori mengenai prosedur dan orientasi penerjemahan oleh Newmark (1988). Data merupakan 285 transkrip dialog film dalam bahasa Indonesia dan subtitle dalam bahasa Inggris. Sumber data berasal dari film Marlina si Pembunuh dalam empat Babak yang ditonton melalui aplikasi streaming film berbayar, HOOQ. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode simak dan teknik catat. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan metode deskriptif-komparatif dengan mendeskripsikan teks sumber dan teks sasaran dan menyandingkan kedua teks untuk menentukan prosedur penerjemahan yang diterapkan dan orientasi dari hasil terjemahan tersebut. Berdasarkan hasil analisis yang telah dilakukan pada seluruh data, ditemukan bahwa prosedur dengan penerapan paling tinggi adalah prosedur reduksi sebanyak 21%, disusul oleh prosedur transposisi dan parafrase sebanyak 16%. Meskipun reduksi menjadi prosedur yang dominan, jenis reduksi yang dilakukan adalah kondensasi yang menunjukkan bahwa penerjemah menghindari untuk melakukan penghilangan komponen-komponen penting pada teks sumber. Penggunaan prosedur tersebut mengarahkan bahwa dari keseluruhan hasil terjemahan, subtitle film berorientasi pada bahasa sasaran karena pemahaman pembaca dari bahasa target paling diutamakan tanpa melanggar batasan yang ada dalam bidang penerjemahan subtitle.

Audiovisual translation in the form of subtitle presents different difficulties from other types of translation due to the shifting mode from verbal to written. The application of the translation procedures and the orientation need to be chosen carefully to achieve a successful translation result with the limitations given. Therefore, this study analyzes the translation procedures and orientation which translator applies when constructing the subtitles for the movie "Marlina si Pembunuh dalam Empat Babak". The theories used are procedures and orientations of translation theories by Newmark (1988). The data are 285 transcripts of movie dialogues in Indonesian and the subtitles in English. The data source is the movie "Marlina si Pembunuh dalam Empat Babak" which is watched through a legal movie streaming application, HOOQ. The data collection was done by using observation and note-taking technique. The analysis was conducted using the descriptive-comparative method by describing the source text and target text and comparing the texts to determine the translation procedure applied and the orientation of the translation result. Based on the results of the analysis conducted, it is found that the procedure with the highest application is reduction procedure by 21%, followed by transposition and paraphrase procedures by 16%. Although reduction is the dominant procedure, the type of reduction carried out is condensation which shows that the translator avoids omitting the important components of the source text. The use of these procedures shows that from the whole result of the translation, the movie subtitles emphasize the target language because the target language readers'understanding is preferred without breaking the subtitle translation rules.
