There Are More to Them Than Meets The Eye How Digital Era Affect The Motivation and Strategies of Disabled People in the Labour Force

Peningkatan teknologi di era ekonomi digital mempengaruhi cara orang bekerja dan hidup dengan lebih mudah. Namun, itu tidak berarti kehidupan yang lebih baik bagi para penyandang cacat. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi apakah kelas sosial orang-orang cacat mempengaruhi strategi, motivasi, dan harapan mereka untuk memasuki pasar tenaga kerja di era ekonomi digital. Penelitian ini melihat apakah kelas sosial orang-orang cacat juga mempengaruhi kemampuan dan modal sosial mereka, sehingga juga mempengaruhi peluang mereka untuk memasuki pasar tenaga kerja juga. Delapan penyandang cacat di Jakarta, Indonesia diwawancarai sebagai sumber data. Penelitian ini menyentuh secara singkat tentang bagaimana jaminan sosial bagi orang-orang cacat di Indonesia dan negara lain untuk memberikan rekomendasi tentang bagaimana pemerintah dapat melakukan untuk membantu orang-orang cacat memasuki pasar tenaga kerja. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa ekonomi digital menduplikasi efek pada kelas sosial, di mana ia tidak dapat diakses untuk semua kelas sosial orang-orang cacat dan menciptakan kesenjangan yang lebih signifikan antara kelas.

The improvement of technology in the digital economy era is affecting the way people work and live with more ease. However, it does not mean better life for disabled people. This research has a purpose of identifying whether the social class of disabled people influence their strategies, motivation and hopes in entering the labour market in the digital economy era. This research look at whether the social class of disabled people also affecting their capabilities and social capital, thus also affecting their chances to enter the labour market as well. Eight disabled people in Jakarta, Indonesia is interviewed as the source of the data. This research touch briefly on how social security for disabled people in Indonesia and another country to put recommendation on how the government could do to help the disabled people to enter the labour market. The findings show that digital economy duplicates the effect on social class, where it does not accessible for all social class of the disabled people and create a more significant gap between classes.
