Tugas akhir ini merupakan terjemahan dari novel berjudul Ryuuou no Oshigoto karangan Shirow Shiratori. Novel ini menceritakan tentang tokoh protagonis bernama Kuzuryuu Yaichi yang telah memiliki gelar "Ryuuou" pada usia muda 16 tahun. Akan tetapi kemudian jatuh ke dalam kemerosotan besar dan mengalami sebelas kekalahan berturut-turut dalam pertandingan resmi. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut guru dari Kuzuryuu Yaichi menyuruhnya untuk mengangkat seorang murid yang masih berada di sekolah dasar. Ryuuou no Oshigoto dipilih karena alur ceritanya yang menarik dan bukan hanya pembaca diperlihatkan tokoh protagonis yang telah mendapatkan gelar sebagai Ryuuou tetapi juga proses tokoh protagonis dalam mendapatkan gelar tersebut dan juga novel ini memiliki beberapa sudut pandang lain selain tokoh protagonis yang membuat pembaca lebih memahami situasi atau nuansa yang ada dalam cerita. Ryuuou no Oshigoto merupakan salah satu novel terbaik di Jepang yang pernah mendapatkan peringkat pertama pada majalah Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! di tahun 2017 dan 2018, dalam kategori Bonkobon (buku paperback dengan format kecil) dan juga peringkat kedua di tahun 2019. Karena popularitasnya, serial novel Ryuuou no Oshigoto telah diadaptasi menjadi anime pada tahun 2018. Beberapa kesulitan ditemukan pada proses penerjemahan. Salah satunya adalah pemilihan kata dalam Bahasa Indonesia yang memiliki bobot setara dengan kata dari bahasa asalnya, yaitu Bahasa Jepang. Selain itu, juga terdapat beberapa kendala menyangkut tata bahasa yang masih belum dipelajari sehingga mempersulit proses penerjemahan.

This final paper is a translation of a novel titled Ryuuou no Oshigoto, written by Shirow Shiratori. This novel tells the story of a protagonist named Kuzuryuu Yaichi who already had the title "Ryuuou" at the young age of 16 years. But then fell into a big slump and suffered eleven consecutive defeats in official matches. To overcome this the teacher from Kuzuryuu Yaichi told him to appoint a student who was still in elementary school. Ryuuou no Oshigoto was choosen because not only is the reader shown the protagonist who has earned the title as Ryuuou but also the protagonist's process of obtaining the title and also this novel has several other points of view besides the protagonist which makes the reader more familiar with the situation or nuance in the story. Ryuuou no Oshigoto is one of the best novels in Japan ever to get first place in the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi magazine! in 2017 and 2018, in the Bonkobon category (paperback book in small format) and also ranked second in 2019. Due to its popularity, the Ryuuou no Oshigoto novel series was adapted into an anime in 2018. There are some issues while translating Ryuuou no Oshigoto, such as some Japanese expressions have no equivalent translation in Bahasa Indonesia. There are problems in the grammatical structure which cause ambiguity in the process of translation. To make it easier, some expressions are translated to other expressions which has closest meanings, hence the sentences pragmatically correct.
