KARAKTERISTIK EKSTERIOR KUALITATIF KETURUNAN HASIL PERSILANGAN AYAM KUB TIPE JENGGER BERBEDA DENGAN AYAM LAYER DI ADIJAYA UNINDO PERKASA SEMANU

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik eksterior kualitatif hasil persilangan ayam KUB jantan dengan tipe jengger berbeda (Pea, Rose, Single, dan Walnut ) dengan ayam layer. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 80 ekor ayam hasil persilangan yang terdiri dari 40 ekor keturunan jantan dan 40 ekor keturunan betina. Sampel penelitian diperoleh dari empat kelompok persilangan, masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 10 ekor jantan KUB dan 80 ekor betina layer. Ayam hasil persilangan dipelihara dalam kandang semi closed house yang terdiri dari 40 kandang baterai. Setiap tipe jengger terdiri dari 10 kandang yang dikelompok per kandang berdasarkan parental tiap tipe jengger. Karakteristik eksterior kualitatif yang diamati meliputi warna paruh, bola mata, bulu mahkota, bulu leher, bulu dada, bulu perut, bulu punggung, bulu sayap sekunder dan primer, bulu ekor, bulu paha, selaput kaki, dan kaki. Data eksterior kualitatif dianalisis secara deskriptif menggunakan persentase sebagai parameter. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keturunan jantan maupun betina tipe jengger yang berbeda, variasi warna pada bagian kepala hampir seragam. Hal tersebut terlihat dari persentase jumlah ayam pada warna dominan yang sama terutama pada paruh, mata, dan bulu mahkota. Sedangkan warna bulu leher pada jantan lebih bervariasi dibandingkan pada betina. Variasi warna karakteristik eksterior bagian badan memiliki warna yang sama. Tingkat variasi warna bulu bagian badan pada keturunan jantan tipe jengger berbeda sangat tinggi, berbeda halnya dengan keturunan betina yang memiliki warna hampir seragam yakni berwarna putih pada keturunan tipe jengger Rose, Single, dan Walnut serta warna hitam pada keturunan tipe jengger Pea. Variasi warna karakteristik eksterior bagian ekor memiliki warna hampir seragam pada keturunan jantan dan betina. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa karakteristik eksterior kualitatif pada ayam hasil persilangan ayam KUB jantan tipe jengger berbeda dengan ayam layer masih cukup beragam, baik pada bagian kepala, badan, maupun ekor dan belum memiliki ciri-ciri khusus yang tegas sama halnya seperti ayam kampung pada umumnya.

The aim of this study was to determine the qualitative exterior characteristics of the result of the offspring from male KUB chickens with different comb types (Pea, Rose, Single, and Walnut) with layer chickens. In this study total 80 crossbreed bird consisting of 40 male offspring and 40 female offspring were used. The research sample was obtained from four crossing groups, each group consisted of 10 KUB males and 80 laying birds. The offspring were kept in semi-closed house cages consisting of 40 battery cages. Each comb type consists of 10 cages which were grouped per cage based on type of the comb. Qualitative exterior characteristics included beak, eye, crown feathers, neck feathers, chest feathers, abdominal feathers, back feathers, primary and secondary wing feathers, tail feathers, thigh feathers, shank membrane, and shank color were observed. Qualitative exterior data were statistically using descriptive statistic and percentage as parameter. The results showed that for several male and female offspring of different comb types, the color variation on the head were almost uniform. That was indicated in the percentage of chickens in the same characteristic dominated by the same color, especially in the beak, eyes, and crown feathers color. The color of neck feathers in male is more variative than in females. The variations of the body color have uniform color. Male offspring of different comb types has high level of variation color in body feathers, different in female offspring that only has two variation, white for Rose, Single, and Walnut comb type and black for Pea comb type. Male and female offspring has almost uniform color for tail feathers. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the qualitative exterior characteristics of chickens resulting from crossing of KUB roosters with different comb layers and layer chickens are still quite diverse, both on the head, body, and tail feathers color and not yet have specific characteristics as well as native chicken in general.
