Productivity measurement of "Go Public" manufacturing companies :: Comparison between Indonesian and Malaysian companies

It is suspicious that the productivity of manufacturing companies in Indonesia and Malaysia are affected by Asian crisis, but the effect itself perhaps different between these two countries in which the companies based. Based on the financial statements, which is published by the companies, the productivity of the company can be measured by calculating the productivity ratios. Productivity ratios measure the effectiveness of the company on using their resources. The sample of firms included in this study are manufacturing companies listed in Jakarta Stock Exchange and Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (Main Board). The findings of this study are: The economic crisis does affecting the productivity of manufacturing companies in Indonesia and Malaysia. Productivity between Indonesia and Malaysia manufacturing companies are different, except for account receivable turnover. Malaysia manufacturing companies, on average showing a better performance, in terms of inventory turnover, total assets turnover and working capital turnover
