Pengaruh edukasi menggunakan video terhadap perilaku perawatan ibu dengan balita pneumonia di Puskesmas Piyungan Kabupaten Bantul

Perilaku perawatan ibu yang tepat merupakan faktor keberhasilan dalam menurunkan angka kematian balita, sehingga perilaku perawatan ibu terhadap balita pneumonia ini menjadi sangat penting. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk memperbaiki perilaku ibu yaitu dengan memberikan edukasi kesehatan. Edukasi menggunakan video diharapkan lebih efektif untuk meningkatkan perilaku perawatan ibu dengan balita pneumonia. Tujuan: Mengetahui pengaruh edukasi menggunakan video dibandingkan dengan leaflet terhadap perilaku perawatan ibu pada balita pneumonia. Metode: Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi experimental, dengan desain pretest posttest with control group design. Penelitian dilakukan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Piyungan Kabupaten Bantul, 68 responden menggunakan consecutive sampling. Perilaku perawatan ibu diukur dengan kuesioner Perilaku Perawatan Ibu dengan Balita Pneumonia. Analisa data menggunakan independent t-test. Hasil: Perilaku perawatan ibu sebelum diberikan edukasi pada kelompok perlakuan dalam kategori baik (112,68± 9,4), dan perilaku perawatan ibu mengalami peningkatan setelah pemberian intervensi (119,65± 8,67) dengan nilai p=0,016. Perilaku perawatan ibu sebelum diberikan edukasi kelompok kontrol (diberikan leaflet) dalam kategori baik (110,41± 11,34), dan perilaku perawatan ibu mengalami peningkatan setelah pemberian intervensi (113,62 ± 11,25) dengan nilai p=0,003. Edukasi menggunakan video berpengaruh terhadap perilaku perawatan ibu dengan balita pneumonia (p=0,015; d=0,603). Kesimpulan: Edukasi menggunakan video lebih berpengaruh terhadap perilaku perawatan ibu dengan balita pneumonia dibandingkan leaflet.
Background: Pneumonia is a leading cause of mortality in children under the age of five years in Indonesia. Hence, children under five years of age with pneumonia need proper care. Appropriate maternal care behavior is a key factor for reducing children mortality. One of the most effective ways to improve maternal behavior is by providing health education, especially for mother. The use of video to educate mother is expected to improve maternal care behavior to children with pneumonia. Objective: To identify the effect of the use of video as an educational tool compared to leaflet on mother caring behavior to children under the age of five years with pneumonia. Method: This study was quasi-experimental, pre and post test with control group. Consecutive sampling method was used to study 68 mothers in this research. The study was conducted in Puskesmas Piyungan, Kabupaten Bantul. Maternal behavior was measured with the Mother caring behavior to children with pneumonia questionnaire. Data analysed using independent t-test. Results: Mother care behavior before being given education in the treatment group is in the good category (112,68± 9,4), and mother care behavior increased after the intervention (119,65±8,67) with a value of p = 0.016. Mother care behavior before being given education in the control group (given leaflets) is in good category (110,41±11,34), and mother care behavior increased after the intervention (113,62±11,25) with a value of p = 0.003. The use of video in education affects the mother caring behavior to children under the age of five years with pneumonia (p = 0.015; d = 0.603). Conclusion: The use of video in education was improved mother caring behavior to children under the age of five years with pneumonia. In conclusion, it is more effective than the use of leaflet.
