Evaluation of the effectiveness of SAP R/3 logistics in PT. Amoco Mitsui PTA Indonesia

PT. Amoco Mitsui PTA Indonesia telah mengimpiementasikan SAP W3 Logistics sejak perusahaan ini berdiri. Untuk mengetahui apakah pengimplementasian sistem teknologi informasi pada departemen logistics menguntungkan atau tidak, maka diperlukan evaluasi baik pada sistem teknologi informasi ataupun pada tiap unit fungsi. Saat ini, evaluasi dan pengembangan yang dilakukan oleh PT. Amoco Mitsui PTA Indonesia hanya mengacu pada pemenuhan kebutuhan end user pada masing-masing departemen di perusahaan tersebut. Tesis ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi seberapa efektif SAP R/3 dalam mendukung departemen logistics untuk meningkatkan pelayanan kepada pelanggan dari sudut pandang on-time delivery, order fill, order-cycle time, dan invoice accuracy. Dapat dikatakan ternyata SAP R/3 dapat melakukan kontrol pada setiap operasi unit fungsi sehingga memberikan pelayanan yang lebih baik.

PT. Amoco Mitsui PTA Indonesia has been implementing SAP W3 since its establishment. To find out whether the implementation of its information technology system in the logistics department is beneficial or not, there is a need for an evaluation of either the information technology system or each functional unit. The current evaluation and development undertaken by PT. Amoco Mitsui PTA Indonesia are onIy concerned with the fulfillment of end user requirements in each department within the company. This thesis aims to evaluate the extent to which SAP W3 is effective in supporting logistics department to enhance customer satisfaction in terms of on-time delivery, order-cycle time, order fill, and invoice accuracy. It is found that SAP W3 is able to control the operation of all the functional units to ensure the provision of a better service.
