IMPROVEMENT MUFFLER PADA UNIT EXCAVATOR PC-750/800 KOMATSU DI PT KALTIM PRIMA COAL

Pada proses penambangan batu bara dibutuhkan banyak unit untuk membantu proses penambangan tersebut, salah satunya adalah unit PC-750-7 dan PC-800-7 yang berjenis back hoe. Jika salah satu unit ada yang bermasalah, akan mengganggu proses penambangan dan berbuntut pada produktifitas batu bara. Maka dari itu kondisi setiap unit selalu dijaga untuk tetap prima agar tidak terjadi breakdown dan dapat bekerja dengan maksimal. Ketika engine mengalami low power, maka kemungkinan unit akan breakdown lebih besar. Dan penyebab utama terjadinya low power adalah low boost pressure. Metode yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini adalah dengan mengecek kondisi soot, boost pressure, dan pergantian turbocharger pada semua unit excavator. Lalu setelah tersaring untuk unit yang mengalami low boost pressure dilakukannya improvement muffler dengan melubangi silencer utama dengan diameter 200 mm. Dengan melubangi salah satu silencer pada muffler dapat memperlancar aliran udara pada saluran exhaust sehingga turbo dapat berputar lebih cepat dan menghasilkan boost pressure sebesar 135 kPa yang sebelumnya hanya sebesar 100 kPa dan menurunkan temperatur dari 425 °C menjadi 187 °C.

In the coal mining process, many units are needed to assist the mining process, one of which is the PC-750-7 and PC-800-7 units which are back hoe type. If one of the units has a problem, it will disrupt the mining process and lead to coal productivity. Therefore, the condition of each unit is always maintained to remain excellent so that there is no breakdown and can work optimally. When the engine is low power, it is likely that the unit will breakdown even greater. And the main cause of low power is low boost pressure. The method used in this research is to check the soot condition, boost pressure, and turbocharger replacement in all excavator units. Then after filtering for units that experience low boost pressure, a muffler is made by piercing the main silencer with a 200 mm diameter. By piercing one of the silencers on the muffler can accelerate the flow of air in the exhaust line so that the turbo can spin faster and produce a boost pressure of 135 kPa which was previously only at 100 kPa and lower the temperature from 425 °C to 187 °C.
