SUSTAINABILITY ANALYSIS OF SALAK PONDOH SLEMAN (Salacca edulis cv Reinw) AS A CERTIFIED GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATION PRODUCT

Salak Pondoh Sleman (Salacca edulis cv Reinw) merupakan salah satu produk pertanian yang telah memiiki sertifikat indikasi geografis. Sebagai produk berindikasi geografis, Salak Pondoh Sleman hanya dapat ditanam di wilayah tertentu agar menghasilkan buah dengan karakteristik yang berbeda dengan produk sejenis lainnya. Namun, adanya resiko perubahan iklim dapat mempengaruhi kesesuaian lahan Salak Pondoh Sleman di masa mendatang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan tingkat keberlanjutan usahatani Salak Pondoh Sleman; mengidentifikasi faktor penentu keberlanjutannya; dan memodelkan probabilitas kesesuaian lahan pertumbuhan Salak Pondoh Sleman di masa depan. Metode multi-dimensional scaling pada Rapid Assessment Techniques for Salacca (RAPSalacca), sebuah analisis yang dikembangkan untuk menentukan indeks keberlanjutan berdasarkan faktor yang berpengaruh, digunakan untuk mengukur tingkat keberlanjutan dan menentukan atribut yang mempengaruhi keberlanjutan usahatani Salak Pondoh Sleman. Selain itu, permodelan kesesuaian lahan pertumbuhan Salak Pondoh Sleman dilakukan dengan software ArcMap 10.3 dan Maximum Entropy (MaxEnt). Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh, Salak Pondoh Sleman cenderung rentan terhadap efek perubahan iklim, ditunjukkan dengan kecilnya probabilitas distribusi pertumbuhan Salak Pondoh Sleman di tahun 2050. Keberlanjutan usahatani Salak Pondoh Sleman secara rinci akan dijelaskan dalam penelitian ini.

Salak Pondoh Sleman (Salacca edulis cv Reinw) is a product that has been certified as a geographical indication product. As a geographical indication product, Salak Pondoh Sleman can only be cultivated in certain regions to get fruit with distinctive characteristics. The risk of climate change in the future, however, can have an impact on the land suitability area. This study aims to determine the sustainability level of Salak Pondoh Sleman farming system; identify the determinant keys of its sustainability; and build a spatial model on the probability of Salak Pondoh Sleman' suitability area distribution. A multi-dimensional scaling for Rapid Assessment Techniques for Salacca (RAPSalacca) test, a test developed for determining sustainability index based on an influential factor, was performed and revealed that selected attributes contribute to sustainable farming of Salak Pondoh Sleman. Moreover, modeling the land suitability area was done by ArcMap 10.3 and Maximum Entropy (MaxEnt) software. Based on the developed model, Salak Pondoh Sleman is vulnerable to the climate change effect, indicated by the smaller probability of distribution of the Salak Pondoh Sleman planting area in 2050. The sustainability of Salak Pondoh Sleman farming system is further explained in this study.
