STUDY IN SPACE SECTOR COLLABORATION: CONSIDERING THE POSSIBLE COLLABORATION IMPLEMENTATION FOR SMALL SATELLITE AND LARGE SATELLITE

Terdapat beberapa pemeran besar dalam sektor antariksa. Adapun diantaranya pemanufaktur dan pengoperasi satelit. Di era modern ini, kita mengenali 2 (dua) tipe satelit yaitu satelit besar yang konvensional dan juga satelit kecil. Pandangan utama masa kini adalah bahwa bisnis satelit kecil bersifat mengganggu kestabilan bisnis satelit besar konvensional karena kemampuannya untuk menggantikan fungsi dari satelit besar, hal ini dibuktikan melalui beberapa riset dari beberapa tahun yang telah lalu. Namun, hal ini tidak menutupi kemungkinan jika satelit kecil juga berperan sebagai pendukung atau pelengkap dari bisnis satelit besar. Kami mengambil inspirasi dari industri drones yang awalnya dipandang sebagai pembawa disrupsi terhadap bisnis pesawat udara konvensional. Akhirnya, perkembangan teknologi memungkinkan drones untuk menjadi bisnis pendukung atau pelengkap bagi pesawat udara konvensional. Sebagai contoh, penggunaan quadrotors untuk melakukan observasi struktur pesawat udara dalam bisnis MRO dan juga penggunaan drones untuk mengurangi kemungkinan terjadinya birdstrike pada aerodrome.

There are many players in the space sector. One of these players are satellite manufacturers and operators. Nowadays, we have become familiar with two types of satellites, large conventional satellite and the emerging small satellite. Existing perceptions view small satellite as a potential disruption to the existing satellite market, proven through several research on this topic. However, aside from playing the role of substitutes, there may also be a possibility for small satellites to become a complementary service for large satellites. We take inspiration from the drone’s industry where initially they were perceived to be a disruptive technology to conventional aircrafts. Eventually the drones are able to become a very versatile complementing technology to the conventional aircraft industry. For example, structural analysis of commercial aircrafts for MRO using quadrotors and also using drones to prevent the possibility of bird-strikes in aerodromes.
