Dalam perkembangan dunia teknologi informasi dan komunikasi yang semakin pesat sekarang ini informasi menjadi salah satu aspek penting dalam kehidupan. Informasi biasanya diamankan agar tidak diketahui orang banyak. Salah satu cara pengamanannya dengan Virtual Private Network (VPN) yaitu dengan mengamankan jalur komunikasi yang digunakan untuk pertukaran data seperti jaringan Local Area Network (LAN). VPN bekerja dengan cara membuat jaringan pribadi melalui jaringan publik. VPN mengamankan jaringan dengan cara hanya mengizinkan pengguna yang ditunjuk akses ke VPN. Salah satu keuntungan menggunakan VPN adalah dapat mengakses homepage yang telah diblokir oleh pihak pemerintah seperti Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika Republik Indonesia (Kemkominfo). VPN membutuhkan sebuah VPN server dan VPN client. VPN client dapat menggunankan Hostname atau dengan membuat file ceritficate untuk bisa terhubung pada VPN server. Software SoftEther VPN adalah salah satu software yang menyediakan fasilitas VPN. Dengan software ini juga pembuatan sebuah VPN server lebih mudah. Softether kompatibel dengan banyak perangkat seperti Windows, Mac, smartphone atau router.

Information is usually secured so that it is not known to many people. One way to secure it with a Virtual Private Network (VPN) is securing communication lines that are used to exchange data such as Local Area Network (LAN). VPN work by creating private networks through public networks. VPN secures the network by only allowing designated users access to the VPN. One of the advantages of using a VPN is that it can access the homepage that has been blocked by the government such as the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemkominfo). VPN requires a VPN server and VPN client. VPN clients can use the Hostname or by creating a ceritficate file to be able to connect to the VPN server. Software SoftEther VPN is one of the software that provides VPN facilities. Softether is compatible with many devices such as Windows, Mac, smartphone or router.
