Represi Seksual Masyarakat Modern Ditinjau dalam Teori Evolutionary Psychology David Buss

Penelitian ini membahas tentang represi seksualitas yang dialami masyarakat modern. Penelitian ini berangkat dari perubahan-perubahan masyarakat modern seperti preferensi dan kategori tertentu dalam memilih hubungan serta pasangan. Hal tersebut secara khusus diangkat dalam teori Evolutionary Psychology David Buss. Dalam penelitian ini selanjutnya menganalisis preferensi masyarakat modern tersebut melalui teori represi seksual. Penelitian ini menyatukan berbagai macam teori represi mulai dari teori klasik hingga teori yang palng mutakhir. Pokok persoalan dalam penelitian ini adalah memberikan argumentasi bahwa dalam upaya peradaban manusia justru mereduksi nilai pleasure dalam diri individu sendiri. Penelitian ini merupakan studi kepustakaan dengan mencari data melalui buku dan artikel karya David Buss. Data tersebut kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan unsur-unsur metodis berupa deskripsi, interpretasi, dan komparasi. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: pertama, represi seksual menjangkiti masyarakat modern secara holistik melalui berbagai macam preferensi yang dengan demikian tidak sesuai dengan dorongan instingtif manusia. Kedua, adanya represi seksualitas tersebut menjadikan masyarakat berurusan dengan kesehatan mental dengan mengutamakan peradaban daripada kepuasan diri sendiri. Ketiga, proses mekanisme psikis masyarakat dengan berbagai preferensinya dapat menimbulkan diskriminasi dalam hal pemilihan pasangan yang tidak memenuhi kualitas yang diharapkan oleh preferensi masyarakat modern secara umum.

This research discusses the repression of sexuality experienced by modern society. This research is based on the changes in modern society such as preferences and certain categories in choosing relationships and partners. This was specifically raised in the theory Evolutionary Psychology David Buss. In this research, then alayzes the preferences of modern society through the theory of sexual repression. This research brings together a variety of repression theories ranging from classical theory to the most recent theories. The main problem in this research is to provide an argument that in the effort of human civilization it actually reduces the value of pleasure in one's own self. This research is a literature study by looking for data through books and articles by David Buss. The data is then analyzed using methodical elements in the form of description, interpretation, and comparison. The results obtained from this research are as follows: first, sexual repression approached modern society through a variety of preferences which are thus incompatible with the instinctive drive of humans. Secondly, the repression of sexuality made the community deal with mental health by prioritizing civilization rather than self-satisfaction. Third, the psychological mechanism of society with its various preferences can lead to discrimination in the case of selecting partners who do not capable the quality expected by the preferences of modern society in general.
