Proses produksi listrik pada pembangkit listrik tenaga uap, tidak lepas dari turbin yang merupakan komponen utama dalam unit pembangkit. Diantara rangkaian turbin dan generator terdapat 9 bantalan (bearing). Bantalan ini berfungsi untuk memperkecil gesekan. Pada saat rotor turbin berputar, bantalan-bantalan penyangga tersebut akan dilumasi dengan minyak pelumas. Sistem pelumasan ini dilakukan oleh lube oil system. Salah satu hal penting yang perlu diperhatikan dalam lube oil system ini adalah filter oil cooler. Filter oil cooler ini merupakan penyaring oli pada siklus sistem pelumasan. Dalam perawatannya, pembersihan filter oil cooler ini dibersihkan secara teratur. Pada PLTP Dieng pembersihan filter oil cooler dilakukan secara manual, sehingga dirasa perlu untuk merancang alat pembersih filter oil cooler secara otomatis. Alat pembersih filter ini dirancang agar lebih efektif dan hemat, baik waktu maupun tenaga.

The electricity production process in a steam power plant, is inseparable from the turbin which is the main component in the generating unit. Between a series of turbines and generators there are 9 bearings. This bearing serves to minimize friction. When the turbine rotor rotates, the supporting bearing will be lubricated with oil. This system is carried out by the lube oil system. As for one of the important things to consider in this lube oil system is an oil cooler filter. oil cooler filter is an oil filter in the lubrication system cycle. In it's treatmen, cleaning the oil cooler filter is regularly. In the PLTP Dieng, the oil cooler filter is manually cleaned. So it is necessary to design an automatic cleaning oil cooler filter. this cleaning tool is designed to be more effective and economical, both time and effort.
